Here is the adapter plugged into my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. My case is a Spigen Crystal Edge case which I've had issues with some USB cables fitting. So far no issues with attaching the cable. The cable is "double sided" in that you can attach it either way to your phone and it connects and transfers power or data. The PC side is a standard USB-A.
The phone side is active and requires power to work. All of my OTG plugs are passive with just the jack for the USB, so I am unable to test if OTG works or not. So far all the chargers I have access to here at work have worked with either the gold cable or the adapter and a standard cable. I've transferred photo's from my phone to my PC as well.
Regarding case compatibility. If the plug part fits then the cable will attach and fit as well. They are the same size.

monkey1911How far out does it go? I have a pretty thin case and I'd rather not have anything sticking too far out.

monkey1911Does it work with the Qualcomm Quick Charge on your S7?

brianjsgohIt does work with the adaptive fast charger and shows fast charging on the screen. I used the micro-USB to magnet adapter just in case it burned out. I will say that is did get pretty warm during a 50%-ish charge.

monkey1911Thanks! I've got a similar one from Amazon UK, it works fine. I'm not surprised that it gets pretty warm, my original Samsung cable gets almost too hot to touch. I wonder if there's a problem with my Samsung cable...

brianjsgohi think it's a Samsung thing. All of my white Samsung cables get warm while charging. The fast charger gets warmest of them all.
