One of the simplest, most convenient features of many laptops is the magnetic snap-and-charge plug. Patterned after that same technology, these fuss-free magnetic cables allow you to connect your USB-C devices quickly, with one hand, no matter how dark or hard to see it is Read More
I bought this cable with the aim of reducing the damage to my devices when I inevitably trip over the charging cord.
There is no logic to how this cable works. Some days the magnet is strong enough to pull the phone with the cable and other days you're lucky to get it to charge as it keeps falling off!
Overall impression? Surprisingly unsatisfactory as “just” a cable
While I do buy in to the perspective that cables do make a significant difference to my HiFi set-ups, I am far less concerned with interconnects for my day-to-day use of iPhone-iPad as my remote office tools. That being said, these Plugies were very quickly and distractingly poorly manufactured and ended up in the “To-Donate” pile. I would not recommend these for purchase, general or otherwise.
Does work, but the connecter was uncomfortable to use. The end stuck out and is pretty pointy. Also detaches too easily maybe because of the right angle connector? Good for laptops bad for mobile devices
I love having a magnetic cable for my 15" MacBook Pro, and with the dongle (which extrudes about 3/32") inserted it fits into the tight leather Apple sleeve perfectly. But it doesn't engage as strongly nor stay in position as well as the old magnetic connector built into my 2013 13" MacBook Pro. A little more magnetic holding power, and a slightly slimmer dongle and this would be perfect.
Very unhappy. Worked well initially, but within a few days started to have issues with inconsistent charging. Now shows lightning bolt but says battery not charging. Went back to apple cable.
Purchased only for charging, so lack of data transfer wasn’t an issue for me. Functioned properly (w/ my 2017 MacPro) for about a week, then stopped working all together. Unfortunately, it seems like a great idea poorly executed.
The magnetic function is gimmicky and needs to be pushed up really hard into the phone. Seems to fall off when you move your phone around. Decided to use it only on my backup phone and keep using regular cable for my main phone.
