Klikitiklaki found it slightly smoother and less mushy than the novatouch but it is substantially lighter so if you want a heavier more tactile feel you'll have to replace the domes. (with swapped 65g it's almost comparable to a realforce. Almost!)
DrMechTried both. Sound is not an issue for most keys but could be for the larger.
Feel is okay too.
The real issue is you. Your mind.
How ready are you to accept the idea of those springs between you and your new friend?...
NIZ sells 55g rubber domes too by the way!
TamehAhh I didn't see those, my mind is probably going to be ok if there was no other option.
I ordered a 55g replacement dome from eBay (too late to cancel now.) I'll get NIZ 55g domes if needed.
Sound with the springs was a small concern, but mostly I was wondering about how they might affect the tactile feedback.
yanfaliFeel free to ask them, their support is pretty reactive. It is indeed unclear, but I would think they have 4 different products:
108 45g
108 55g
75 35g
75 45g
And to get to 87 you just use a cutter/scissors.
It is not unusual in Chinese e-stores to have to precise the model you want through a comment in your order.
TamehYeah, I'll follow up once I get a response to my email. It'd be nice if you could just order a 55g for a plum75 for example. I have no problem cutting the domes up, but for unusual layouts that can make reinstallation very awkward. That's why the 87 key is such an easy mod. If you have 104 domes, just cut off the numpad and done.
TamehNew to this electrocap scene cuz i only have boards with various cherry/gaterons. I plan to try topre one day BUT I'm feeling intrigued by this discussion and all the spring/dome configurations. Can anybody provide a guide on how this keeb works and how these mods work. Do u really just pull the cap off and put the damn spring/dome under it to add resistance?
bODOSprings you add by just removing keycap and re-adding it.
Domes are trickier, especially since (I found out the hard way), they are not compatible with waterproof boards. Here is a video:
But after I did it, the S key fails to register most of the time, so I cannot recommend the swap.
I am now trying an equivalent ABKO HACKER.
TamehYikes that sucks. It took me 3 or 4 tries to get it all back together. In the end I used a vise to hold the board while I used tweezers to put each spring back in place. The tricky part for me was the LEDs which I had to cut holes for. For the most part my keyboard seems to be working. I put in the 20g springs too, though I may try them without to see how I like 45g.
Tamehi don't see the vid? anyway, im on the hook now, and im pretty excited to try something new. i think im going to buy both domes and springs as other people are doing, and get my hands dirty.
Tamehgot it. thanks. wow! this looks neat. i'm starting to realize that 2018 is going to be year of pushing further and further into the sketchy sort of modding out my boards kind of year. and i'm excited about it.
Tamehbtw, i love how in that video that guy has screws left over after re-assembly and he says, "whatever. im lazy." i hope this isn't a case of the blind leading the blind:)
bODONote that it's easy to break the board end in which you put the screw if you screw too hard. I broke two :)
Don't force your way in, this is definitely not a board meant for heavy modding or regular openings....
