Is this coming back?
How do I switch on the RGB backlighting? Do I have to install anything?
This would be a great candidate for installing some of those BKE domes that are so hot nowadays, wouldn't it?
Just trying to confirm before ordering one, eventually.
Are these going to come with the white & gray keycaps? All the other sites show the RGB versions of this board with all white keycaps. I much prefer the white & gray caps.
lloydapalooza
From what I gather, the white keycaps are in the box as extras. By default it comes with the grey caps
More photos please. RGB backlighting would be good to see.

😑 yes. That’s why I knew it existed. But a picture paints a thousand words
I can buy this for $99 elsewhere. What am i missing?
KeyboardMek
If you check, some of those other sites don't include RGB lighting.
I can't tell from the images, is the spacebar 6.25u?
JohnDerp
5.5u
Why are they peddling the old models. If they offered the new bluetooth models, I'd jump on right away.

They're 60 euro, which is different from $60, and are 61 key, not TKL. That said they are RGB, and do support bluetooth, so fair play. I wasn't aware that companies did RGB+BT. It's running the power budget way too tight from an engineering point of view. I would expect battery life to be quite short though when on battery with the LEDs on. Especially if you're using them at high brightness.
diserasta
I was talking about their new Bluetooth boards that do not have RGB. Actually I'm not sure that they have a backlight at all which is perfectly fine with me. They are a little too high in price from the manufacturer right now and a GB format would be welcomed.
Hey can just plain white backlighting be added as an option?
I can buy this from Tao Bao at 130 SGD before shipping.

It's a little scary the first time but buying stuff from TaoBao through a proxy is pretty safe and cheaper.
JohnDerp
you can buy from their website. https://www.nizkeyboard.com/
...Could the non-RGB backlit version of this keyboard be offered?
Mine works fine... except i cant turn on the lights. Do i have to put batteries in the back of the keyboard?

That’s a turn off

For me it doesn't really matter. The battery slot is out of the way and invisible from a normal angle. I love my Plum84. But I also customized it a lot. I've got granite keycaps on it and BKE dome replacements for a better & more firm keypress feel. The spacebar is difficult to replace though. I found a XDA 5.5u spacebar on aliexpress with a very similar grey color.
Got mine yesterday. Unfortunately the space bar often register 2 keypress instead of one :(. Is this something known that I can fix myself or should I contact the support ?
Sarbian
I've seen that once before. You need to get the PCB replaced - reach out to the manufacturer and they'll take care of it.
Mine came in yesterday. Feels great.
My only issue is I am having trouble replacing the keycaps. Some of them fit over suspiciously easy, but others absolutely will not fit. I've only ever owned one other mechanical so I don't know if this is a common problem.
FoolishChaos
its the sliders, they are very tight, just need to press with more force
I love this keyboard. Great feel and good construction .
if not for that 5.5u spacebar -_-
ashiraki
That's 100% what's stopping me here. This could have easily been a normal 6.25 -- look at most other 65 and 75 layouts.
Too bad it's gonna be shipped at the end of April :( I wanted to get one but don't want to wait that much
toniev
lol, Welcome to mechanical Keyboards. 2 months is considered a short wait here.
JohnDerp
Really? :( Didn't know that. I've had a couple of Das Keyboards and a couple of CM Quickfires but I guess those are more massively produced.
I'm interested in the RGB model. The description for this drop says this one is RGB:
RGB backlighting FN + F7: Backlight toggle Fitted with PBT keycaps, the board features RGB backlighting and tons of opportunity for customization via the Fn key.
I just want to make sure this is for the RGB model. Can someone in charge of this listing clarify please?
vanRijn
Well, post-mortem and all, but I can confirm that this is the RGB model, now that I have it. Awesome keyboard. I love this thing!
Anybody knows that this one is bluetooth or USB? The price and rgb option imply that this is USB version but the photo confuses me:(

You're right, I made a mistake. It's the non-bluetooth, 35g RGB edition. Solid price.
mattstermh
Heh awesome okay thanks @mattstermh! You worried me lol. I was literally just about to click the "place order" button on nixkeyboards, decided to wait, clicked the "request drop" button on massdrop instead and then like 15 minutes later the drop was live. $119 compared to $149 is a huge difference, assuming this is the RGB version. Glad I was right about this being the drop for the RGB version. =:)
So these are 35g Topre?

kiril
They have a thock sound like Topre, but they are basically linear in feel. I find the 35g is not too soft at all. It feels to me like Cherry Red in terms of actuation force, but the key travel is much smoother than Cherry Red, and much quieter.
kiril
its a topre clone, actually better than the 30g topre domes because less mushy. but not the tactile feeling you would get out of 45g topre, feels like a smooth bump that is easily activated. i like it for typing, not so much for gaming as the keys activate if you rest your hand on top. not that comfortable to hold the fingers up all the time
Does anyone know where I could find this layout in a keyboard, BUT with a number pad too so all the buttons are contiguous (i.e. together)? I have an OEM keyboard like this from Lenovo but have found that layout IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, and seems like a perfect Massdrop. Thanks

Don't forget that you can always buy the Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M, it's the exact same layout if I'm correct. And it's a lot cheaper than 200$ + keys. ;)
I'd either just buy the PCB and leech off of university supplies to make a sandwich case for free, or buy the masterkeys pro m rgb.
LarryTheCableGuy
Thank you for the tip on the Cooler Master - but... it's missing the vertical nav keys. I told it is a rare thing!
Trying to decide... this or the vortex race3?

Sold.
Bilaby
it feels better than standard cherry switches. if you plan to build a board yourself then there are better alternatives like box switches, gateron yellow, zealio and all the modified switches people create. for more info go to r/mechanicalkeyboards. but beware, only trust the old guys, tons of newbies saying they found the grail after having tried only a tiny selection
Is this Bluetooth or USB?
Do they sell dome sheets for the Plum84? I've only seen 75, 87, and 108.

There's one of these for sale on eBay shipping with a 65g some sheet. Looks like a really solid deal
Anyone know if it's possible to swap the alt with the fn/start keys? I know it's not listed as a function but I figured I'd ask.
ALACK
Yes, you can swap any key around with its programmable software.
hey guys would you all rather get this or the gk64??Im into the gk64 due to the swappable key switches. but Im more into this layout with the function keys and stuff. As for price point they are not too far off so they dont really matter to me. Also, 35g on this seems really soft to me.

I know what you mean, i'm fine without dedicated f-row, but if i'm in the mood to play one of my mmos it has to be there, "fn f-row" doesn't work for me then. But its not forbidden to have more than one mk :)
Makami
Not forbidden to have more than one but my wallet holds me back haha.
35 is too light. My fingers fall through 55g. Really pretty tho

Any EC rubber dome will work. Seen a sheet of 45g domes on ebay for $35
Zac_Lee
It's not as light as you would think. Lots of people though that and were pleasantly surprised.
if the pictures are of the real keyboard, they've fixed the weird layout...

You are correct, it was my mistake I'm sorry. I knew it was something that was not normal.
Tyson522
if anything is not normal, it's the space bar. Easiest way is 3D print. Places like shapeways have them
Does anyone know what type of plastic the "body" of the kb is made out of? Not the caps.
Mine shipped today. I knew it was going to ship much earlier than advertised. Anyone else?

Since I am over 30 days of having mine they told me to contact the manufacturer... I contacted the manufacturer last week but never got a reply... At least now you confirmed to me I'm not the only one with this problem. Thank you for letting me know your findings. I'll let you know as well once I have some answers from them.
I got reply from niz support and their solution works. It's to turn keyboard into custom mode by holding fn+f12 (f12 white led will turn on). In this mode the num pad is always disabled, and its in memory so even after cold boot it's in custom mode. So yeh now my f12 always have white led turned on but doesn't bother me as much as turning off num pad each time I cold boot.
