Just got mine a few days ago. It is the Gold+Silver with the 4.4mm balances plug. It sounds great with CA Andromeda and the Sony zx300! It is a bit meatier than the ALO Pure Silver I have been using. It’s also Thicker which makes it a bit more ergonomics mic and comfortable. Great cable!
Already got mine. Both sides have green marker, so how do I know which is left or right?
Plys
Connectors with screws must have them face outwards.
Plys
Perfect. Thanks. Cable sounds great, and really helps my K10s stay in place, unlike the original Noble cable which tends to pull the earpieces out.
If anyone has and is looking to sell a 3.5mm...
For those commenting on the “ridiculous” price of these and other high-end cables, this is an excerpt from glassmonkey’s review of the EA Ares II+ cable found on his audioprimate blog. Granted, I do find EA’s higher offerings to be ”ridiculously” overpriced.
“That was a bit of an aside, but it comes down to this: if you have the time and capability to make cables, you can do it for similar or lower prices than custom-made cables by companies. I personally wouldn’t do this, and I can tell you why. Consumer rates for wire are expensive. If I want to make a 1.2 meter quad braid wire of a quality similar to Effect Audio’s Ares II+ this is what I have to buy from my suppliers in the UK and the USA:
Component Cost
1. 5 meters of Cardas 21.5 AWG OCC Litz wire (cost converted from GBP)1 $53.50
2. WBT 4% Silver Solder (cost converted from GBP)1 $34.60
3. Eidolic 2-pin connectors (model E278PG) (plus VAT)2 $16.35
4. Eidolic splitter (ESX4) (plus VAT)2 $11.75
5. Eidolic 2.5mm TRRS jack (plus VAT)2 $14.75
VAT 3-5 $8.57
Shipping 1-2 $4.35
Shipping 3-5 $11.50
Total $155.37
All of this is assuming that you already have a soldering iron, and sufficient expertise to braid the wire and then solder the ends. This also doesn’t include your labour costs or the difference in quality or sexiness between what you will produce and the professional fit and finish that Effect Audio produces. Since I don’t have soldering expertise, braiding expertise, or a lot of time, buying a cable makes a whole helluva lot more sense. Effect Audio’s costs are surely less than what mine would be, but that is the nature of economies of scale and having the ability to buy wholesale. I don’t begrudge Effect Audio being a successful business, in fact, I’m cheering for them. I consider the price of the Ares II+ very reasonable. Even if I were to get hit with VAT, which may or may not happen, I think the $219.90 price of the Ares II+ is reasonable. The components aren’t cheap, and the labour and overhead costs are totally reasonable.”
I did get in on this drop after reading many reviews. With that said, this is the most I’ve spent on a cable and if the reviews hold true, it will be the most I ever spend on a cable. Compared to other companies, PlusSound cables aren’t “ridiculously” overpriced. Factor in that PlusSound is a relatively small company, heck they have an Etsy shop.
Argh, just realized the 3 month wait time for these. The cables are handmade though, sigh...
rantng
The wait time will be shorter for this drop.
Will these have the default black heatshrink w/gold logo? Any way to specify a red logo for the RT side?
rantng
Option is not available for drops.
PLUSSOUND
how do you know which is the right side .... this is ridiculous
Anyone know if there should be a difference in sound between the X and the Exo both with Silver + Gold? I wonder if there are any audible difference between the two or is it mainly aesthetics?

Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting the Gold + Silver Exo with a 4.4mm plug. I also got an ALO Pure Silver from ALO. I will try both with andromeda and will keep the one I like best. I’m hoping to get a bit more sparkle and air from these cables. I found a review from The Headphone List of the Exo Gold + Silver and it was what convinced me to join the drop!
Jonathane40
Haha, yeah, I read that same review!
does the 4 pin option include the bass pot?
Interested to buy Tri-copper only.
Looks delicate and well made, but a little bit pricey.
Will the 2-pin option work for the Audeze iSine20?
It says "x8 series". Which one? Copper? Tri copper? Something in between? Why so vague?
I got a PlusSound Exo cable for my Audeze iSine20 so I could use the balanced 2.5 output on my Fiio Q5. I definitely noticed a genuine improvement. I don't know how much of that falls on the cable being higher quality or switching from traditional to balanced, but it made me a believer. I fully endorse PlusSound if you have both the gear to make it worth it and the cash to afford it.
Shagatron
I will also add that I chose PlusSound over other more affordable options because PlusSound makes their cables in America and supporting good jobs here will always be worth the extra money to me.
Shagatron
That's a noble cause but don't feel too bad if you buy something that's not made in your homeland, as I'm sure your purchase helps Massdrop pay its own US staff, the credit company gets a portion that they pay to their US staff, the courier company gets a portion to pay their US staff, etc, etc. But yes, buying locally made is extra nice. I try to do the same in my country, but so many of our manufacturers have been bought out by global giants and the first thing they like to do is move production offshore to save money and boost profits.
What a joke
Are there any options available for the ie80s? I've learned how to wear them in the opposite ears given that wearing them as intended (over ear)with glasses is rather uncomfortable so not overly concerned with the size of the connectors.
I have never heard a difference going from one cable to another. Now, reduction in handling noise, different termination, improved ergonomics, aesthetics, and how the cable sits (not being a janky mess, and instead flowing nicely) can all be worth paying more for, but $120 is just ridiculous.
TheOmegaCarrot
Least these cables do look nice, though cable noise and ergonomics are still questionable. I don't mind getting one if they are cheaper.
@PLUSSOUND i really hope there is GPC available in the drop.
Crackie
It is only available on our website.
@PLUSSOUND do u have option for etymotic er4sr?
GeorgeTse
Option is not available on this drop.
@PLUSSOUND I'm surprised you guys didn't attend Canjam NYC as there was a cable brand Effect Audio attending there and they are from SG. People with high-end monitors appreciate good makers these days.
Priced ridiculously. These cables would retail around $40-$70 range in another site.

I hope you can also predict my future for the coming month!
PS: For a cable, the property of the material matters, not the brand name and that too a brand which is specific to a region. Litz cable is a Litz cable. Period!
dheepak10
there are copper cables that sounds better than some silver , gold craps . There are alot of things being put into making a cable that can improve sound rather than ernogomic and charge alot more for that. Plussound is not one of them.
no warranty im assuming
out of luck when these $120 cables go ka-put

One year warranty
Anyone know the difference between the MMCX Westone and Shure???? Help.
I have Custom Art IEM's ..but not sure what to pick for the MMCX connector?
LarrySaysRelax
MMCX Westone is smaller sized to fit best with Westone IEMs. All other models work fine with the MMCX Shure option.
Do we have option to change the jack from 3.5mm to 2.5 mm balanced jack in base version, while checking out?
LINO
Yes, select 2.5mm TRRS under termination.
hi there, what is the difference between UPOCC and OCC? thanks
Laugh fking out loud !
:D
pLaStiKMaN
laugh as much as you want coz it won't change anything at least your ignorance
Any chance of getting an ultrasone ed8ex lemo terminal?
UNW209
For headphone cables, it is found here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/53580
I have spiral ears monitors which are silicone with a RECESSED 2 pin connection. Will the 2 pin plug work with this? Thanks!

It's a silver wire that has the gaps in the crystal structure filled in with gold particles so just think of it as a silver wire.
pegasus21
nice, thanks peg
Which connector should I choose for AKG N40? Shure one or Westone one??
Load 1 more comment
for interest, what's the difference actually?
Chunzzz
According to another comment by them, the Weston’s MMCX is slightly smaller.
Why is this short run of wire so expensive? Cost to make can't be much more than $5
None572958
Custom and it’s made in LA. Expensive cables are probably one of the most spilt topics in the audiophile community. I would say your money is better put to decent amps and DACs if you already don’t have them.
None572958
Because people are stupid?
I asked nearly this exact same question about their cables for regular cans.
Hell yeaaah! This cable is so good, that for $120, you don't even need headphones/IEMs!... right?..
Typhoon859
it's for people with higher-end headphones/iems especially iems because those have resolving capability to detect the change and improvement in cable, also a trained ears with years of exp with high-end monitors to even appreciate those cables. There are overpriced but not with Plussound where their craftmanship is top notch
gearofwar113
I'm an audio engineer who built a studio, bought and soldered all my cables custom - carefully considering every metal, capacitance, shielding, type of wiring, connectors, and etc... (different for every use case/scenario).
That being said, this is still snake oil that's priced at least at 75% markup. If not, that would just reflect in the inefficiency of their production process/business model. I never actually disputed that it may or may not be a high quality cable. I also never claimed that a cable can't make a difference in highly detailed and sensitive headphones.
