I love these pants, purchased some from REI a while back and they're a frequent wear. Sizing/Fit: I'd say the waist is fairly true to size, and the built in mini 'belt' can handle most adjustments. I'd buy true to size or a size up, since the belt cannot adjust above its standard waist measurement, only down. Their Inseam length seems a bit long (not just this offering being 34", but in general). I typically buy these in 32" inseams and am 6'3", ~160lbs. I buy 32" and 34" inseams from different brands (Dickies, Levis, Duluth, REI, etc), and it seems to run a bit longer than true. I have no issues with the cuffs coming up short, even in sneakers. Durability: I haven't had any issues, but haven't taken them out climbing or any difficult hiking. In daily wear/light work they've been perfect and show no signs of wearing out. General impressions: These are my 2nd favorite (non-insulated; Dickies wins for flannel lined just on pricepoint alone) daily/hike pants; my absolute favorite being their brothers, the Prana Zioneers. The stretch is subtle but effective. They seem to wear slower than other pants (comparing them to stuff I own and wear for similar stuff). They're comfortable enough for daily use, and pretty much useful any day you'd bust out a 3 season tent, temperature wise. I have worn them out in some heavy weather and below-freezing temps. Without an under layer, you'll hate yourself below around 40F in these. In the wet, they seem to wick nicely and retain little of the moisture. I wasn't running to change out of them the instant I came inside, nor was I sitting at a desk trapped in itchy dampness. Pricing: 40 bucks is pretty darn good. Mountain Steals gets closest that I've seen, around 45-50 depending on color choice (Prana makes these in a decent range of colors). For REI members/cardholders, they're regular features in the Outlet and are usually in the 55-60ish range there; you won't get a member reward on that since it's an outlet buy, but the card will kick back a few bucks in your dividend. Alternatives: Don't like the cargopant-like thigh pocket? Look at the Zioneers. They seem to be cut trimmer too. They're another frequent feature in the REI Outlet & at Mountain Steals as far as relatively decent pricing (at least, compared to the RSP 85-90), they feature a more carpenter jean like thigh pocket. It's still there, but more subtle. I think they even have more colors compared to the Stretch Zions.
