HotRoderXCustom boards almost never have caps included. IMO the base price of custom boards should just be bare ones no switches or caps.

climbalimaI can understand that but the problem is "almost" isn't always! so there are times when they do include caps! and as someone new to the community. I had no idea I mean I look at the pictures and have my expectations set! This was Amazon (which its not I know) people would look at the picture! go to order then find out its not a complete item and report it. It was just friendly heads up to them. Might be refreshing to have another prospective special from someone new in the community.

HotRoderXI don't really see the issue. 140 is the base price for just the case and pcb. I think massdrop is super clear on what is included in that price. I think it would be a poor idea on massdrops part to list the price as anything but the starting at base price

HotRoderXI am new to the community and this would be my first mech keyboard if I decide to buy. Like you I thought the keycaps and switches would be included in the drop price as 140 is pretty high for a keyboard IMO. I understand like you that a customer smallish custom order for this drop will drive the price up. What shocks me the most is that on OLKB.com you can buy the old case with the same PCB I assume as this one for less than $100 before switches and caps. What makes this one worth nearly $50 more than the older style wood / metal case? Like I said earlier this would be the first mech keyboard I buy and I love the design and caps included in the picture I am just not sure what is going to get me to buy this over their older model which seems to come in around 30-40% cheaper for the same thing except the case.

eric404atxThe older case is much cheaper to produce since it was bent steel. This is machined aluminum. I'd say this price is pretty standard for a custom cnc case.

climbalimaIs this a good price on the canvas keycaps and switches? I have never bought them before but from what I see online it seems like this drop is a cheaper price and the keycaps seem hard to find.

eric404atxCanvas was only dropped once, and they have not shipped, so this buy will be the only way to get them for the time being, and 30 is a great price.

I want to start off with I don't think the boards over priced! at 139 or around 169.99 I don't think its a bad deal! I understand fully its a one off design that is pretty rare being produced in small quantity's that drives the price up.
the biggest thing that caught me was going into this drop I expected a complete base line board with the keycaps shown and switches + case to cost 139.99. Thats what we where told going in and from seeing the boards advertise it would lead one to think that is the case. That was obviously not the case.

What it didn't come with was keycaps shown 29.99 Switches as shown Not available otherwise MX clears which I would assume to be the closet thing in the group buy to whats shown which is halo's if not mistaken are 36.99
so with just those two options added we are looking at that 139.99 price tag inflating to 206.97 which isn't such a superb deal anymore... then tack on the 7.99 for the carry case
I understand things are optional what not... but telling people that up front would have been nice. I was expecting a model close to or as is the model shown on the product page. Instead what I got was a car with no engine our seats. I could have even done with Gateron switches being free as I do prefer those to cherry there much smoother.
Also like said the price tag is a bit steep special for what my expectations where set to. I think it been better to set expectations of price to high then it come in cheaper! then to set to low then people feel meh about the entire thing like I have. I wish everyone a great drop and hope it turns out properly. Yea this is just to steep for my blood for what your getting and what was expected. I do look forward to what OLKB brings out in the future thought.
