Ah! Nevermind. I got it sorted out. Had some noise on the circuit.
i_prefer_yetiCan you elaborate on what fixed this? ive tried everything, and plugged the tt into different outlets around my house but still have the static . . .

whosurfoundingfatherStatic, or hum? Static could be a loose ground connection or dirty record. Hum is almost certainly related to a grounding issue. What preamp are you using? (What settings?) What cables? When do you have issues?
Ninja1283I'm using a NAD PP2e and the interconnects that came with the TT. Without the TT running, there is pretty serious static hum -- it's definetely not motor noise, its electrical noise of some sort. I've tried different outlets around the house (for both the TT and the preamp), as well as different interconnects (always maintaining the ground wire in place from the cables that came with the TT), and that hasn't worked either. I've also tried tweaking the ground wire into several different positions to make sure I'm getting a solid connection, but that hasn't worked! Any ideas?
Ninja1283I've now tried a different phono preamp -- Cambridge Azur 551p -- and the problem still persists, even after trying it set up in a friends house with completely different interconnects. Getting near my wits end!

whosurfoundingfatherOh! Crud. Sounds like you're going down the same rabbit hole that I did.
Well, unfortunately my solution isn't an easy one. It has to do with the electrical circuit the turntable + the preamp reside on. There was an issue with the load and the grounding on the entire circuit. The TT and the NAD PP2e preamp, I assure you, are fine. The grounding you're doing between the TT and the Pre is a good thought, but probably not the entire solution.
The issue I had was that the electrical circuit that the TT plugged into was noisy. I was able to close off some of the chatter on the circuit and over the next several weeks I'll be working on grounding that circuit more thoroughly. Sadly, it's not a quick or easy fix.
Best to you!
