Hey everyone,
I just got a call from the lab that the steel in this knife tested as the D2 claimed by the manufacturer. When I have the complete analysis to share, I will post it here. We are please to be able to offer this reassurance to the community. Thanks for your patience.

JonasHeinemanOkay folks, here's what we've been waiting for: the lab analysis is back and the results of the testing are conclusive - the steel used in these knives has been confirmed as D2. Below you will find...
1) The test results, from Decisive Testing.
2) A screen shot of D2 composition from http://zknives.com/knives/steels/d2.shtml
3) A photo of the knife tested with a mark from the destructive test.
Hope this puts everyone at ease, thanks for your patience while we sorted it out.
JonasHeinemanThank you very much. It is wonderful to have a business that genuinely cares about its customers and tries to answer their questions and addresses their concerns. I’m actually very shocked (in a good way) that you would take these steps to deal with these issue. In today’s world the old saying “The Customer is always right” has been forgotten, ignored or just simply done away with. Great job on your part. Proud to do business with you
JonasHeinemanHi Jonas,
I was glad to receive my order containing both the Drop Point knife as well as the Tanto knives ahead of schedule. I tried contacting Massdrop support regarding one of the knives, but the page where one is to select reason of inquiry is currently not functioning, so I am reaching out here...

The “Tanto” knife has a problem with a very strong detente... It is almost impossible to open the knife with one hand using the flipper or thumb studs. Need to use both hands to get it past the detente before it swings open. Once it is past the detente, it opens very freely. And it is very easy to close via the liner lock. Sadly, the Tanto needs to be returned for a refund, or, at least exchanged for another Tanto. Please provide me options. (I should note the “Drop Point” has no issues and is an awesome knife!) Thanks for you help on this. By the way, here’s wishing everyone at Massdrop a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!!!!!!
Regards,
Alan J. August
