Ugh. This is actually a pretty good deal this time around at $60
The completionist in me says I need this to go with my TX010 & TX020....but do i? Lol
I never end up using those because they're so big, yet this one is smaller....but still looks chunky and heavy.... Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions....

KavikI thought I got a good deal at $80, because at the time, Proelia knives were all selling for over $100 everywhere else. I wish I would have waited! Who knew it would drop to $60? It shows how much profit is built into the sale of knives.

DougFLA123Yeah, it's a little sickening if you think about it too hard sometimes lol Like some of the Kizer deals here for example, selling for like 50% of the average retail prices (which are already way below msrp) and still having room to make profit

KavikI know...the Kizer prices were crazy good! I think I’m all Kizer-ed out...except for maybe the Mini and/or Megatherium.

DougFLA123My mini should be arriving any day now 😁 I've only got a couple of them, I'm sure I'll end up with a few more...They're quality knives, but they never really have been top of my list for "omg i love it i need it"

DougFLA123You almost had me convinced, but I decided to finally join the Hiro Carving Set drop this time around instead (And my Minitherium just arrived, along with the Bestech Shrapnel and a TwoSun a couple days ago, and in this coming week's paycheck I'm getting in on that Wolverine integral over on Indiegogo.... My budget is a just a BIT overspent this month lol) Honestly, i think rather than get the matching smaller TX##'s, i may just look to sell the bigger ones I already have They really are solid knives, but I've literally never used them or even carried them due to their size. I almost never need that beefy of a folding knife in my life

KavikI have a TX020 with a black blade and a satin blade. They are very solid...they feel like a fixed blade camping knife in hand when opened. So what do you think about the Mini-T? I’m anxious to hear about it. I’ve only seen one video review of it (it’s almost like you’re one of the first to own one of these) by Birdshot IV (they think they’re the Abbott and Costello of the Internet). They said the detent was weak on theirs and they could shake it out. I know that’s a big thing for you in NY. I always wanted to know, at least with the Mega-T, is the handle too skinny for the size of the blade? Looking forward to hearing your opinion on this knife.

DougFLA123I honestly didn't have time to look at it for more than about 5 minutes, heading out for a weekend trip I was in on the preorder at BladeHQ 😁 Yes, detent is VERY weak 😭 Not only shake out, but also easy to fail the deployment I'll post up more thoughts early next week in the MiniT discussion thread

KavikCheck to see if the detent ball is going in the hole at all. I have a couple of knives where I can see that the ball isn’t going in the hole at all. It really pisses me off.

DougFLA123I've had a few that don't seat fully, but I've never seen one that doesn't go in at all! That should be an instant return as defective!

KavikIt was one of the only knives I’ve ever bought from KnifeCenter.com. I should have returned it but I didn’t think I could return a knife because it had a weak detent. It wasn’t until months later (after the return period was up) that I inspected it more closely and saw that the ball wasn’t going into the hole. I wish I would have inspected it sooner and returned it because a weak detent is yet another pet peeve of mine.

DougFLA123I've always felt that way too, like it's not necessarily DEFECTIVE, just not up to my standards.....but now, I dunno, have heard from a few people around here who have said a weak detent should be a return. Someone from MD even offered an exchange for my complaint about that on the Buc.... But then I went and anodized it instead lol

KavikI watched a video where a guy had to drill out the detent hole of a Rick Hinderer XM-18 knife (a $400+ knife), and the before of it not going in the hole, followed by the after of it snapping into the hole, was very interesting and satisfying. Although, you would think there must be a tiny bit of blade play when closed with the bigger detent hole. It’s unbelievable though...you shouldn’t have to drill out a $400+ detent hole. How does such a mis-alignment happen. The guy used a Kyocera 1/16” tungsten carbide 2 flute ballnose endmill drill bit.

DougFLA123On a custom or midtech knife, yeah, there's ZERO excuse for something like that not to get noticed. And for $400 that would damn sure be going back to the manufacturer to be fixed or exchanged. In theory there doesn't need to be any blade play in the closed position just because of a bigger hole, if it's drilled perfectly in the right spot. You're essentially making the hole it will be tight up against, any gap behind there will be a moot point because the stop pin will keep it from traveling further into the original hole But, it's a lot to ask of the common person to be able to decide on the correct placement and drill out the hole themselves in a case like this where being off a couple thousandths is the difference between weak detent, perfect detent, or sloppy blade play

TortoiseThunderSame price I paid here for the TX011 here back in December (the tanto version in this size) It's a good price for these knives, but I'm over them. Have the 2 large versions and the small tanto version and I've never carried any of them, just too bulky for my tastes. I'd rather unload the 3 I have than complete the set by buying the 4th at this point
