I think the jacket is appealing but very much dislike the marketing. The phrase 'vegan leather' is ridiculous and annoying. Leather is leather. Unless this jacket is made of vegan skin (and I think that's illegal) this is polyurethane.
DeviltoothPleather aka' vegan leather' has been around a long time. People buy it for many reasons as its usually a lot cheaper than animal-sourced leather but also has look, weight, and feel of animal leather. Bonus for not being linked to the brutal and inhumane meat industry.
WakamaruYes, and pleather or polyurethane is what it's supposed to be called. Vegan leather is one step too far into marketing absurdity. As for your bonus points: I love meat, eat it regularly and don't agree the industry is any more 'brutal' or 'inhumane' than nature itself. I've noticed many vegans/vegetarians have anthropomorphized animals in such a way that they don't have any understanding of nature and humanity's place inside of it.
CalaverasgrandeTargeting Vegans alone while alienating the larger audience would be an impressive exercise in marketing stupidity. I doubt that was the seller's intent (though they can correct me if it was). My original comment was posted because I believe society benefits from truth above trend and misrepresentation in advertising. Polyurethane is polyurethane. A spade is a spade.
Deviltoothtargeting omnivores alone overlooks an entire market of vegans and animal welfare concerned.
Massdrop appears to be large enough to cater to diverse customers, vegans, trolls, and leather wearers
CalaverasgrandeThe point I tried to make is one about truth in advertising. However what's equally disagreeable is the modern movement to politicize every single thing and product. If absurd people want faux leather and prefer to buy it under the guise of a self-righteous faux moral action then I suppose there's a market for those trolls too.
DeviltoothHey @Deviltooth, this is the actual name of the product, we’re not trying to insert any buzzwords or terms. Totally fine/legitimate to call it vegan leather by apparel production standards, though I can see how it would raise a debate. Appreciate the feedback and interest on this drop.
