Field-tested by Rab athletes in Arctic Norway and other harsh conditions, the Strata Flex Jacket is built for technical climbing, mountaineering, and other fast-and-light pursuits. It features Polartec Alpha synthetic insulation for warmth, Pertex Microlight outer fabric for wind and water resistance, and Polartec Power Stretch side panels for breathability and freedom of movement. A full-length front zipper, hidden zippered hand pockets, thumb loops, and a chin guard keep the cold out. Finally, thanks to its slim, form-fitting design, you can wear this jacket over a baselayer or a lighter mid-layer.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice between Men’s S – XXL in Ebony or Maya, and Women’s XS – XL in Jam or Merlin.
Originally developed for the US Special Forces as an advanced insulating material in combat uniforms, Polartec Alpha regulates your core body temperature during both dynamic and static activities. Thanks to its superior breathability, you won’t need to shed or add layers when you’re on the move. Plus, it’s lightweight, fast-drying, and highly packable.
Rab was founded by Scottish mountaineer Rab Carrington in 1980s—but the seed for the company was planted much earlier. In 1973, Carrington found himself in Buenos Aires, his expedition to Patagonia aborted due to a UK dock strike that had delayed the arrival of his equipment. He decided to stick around, and took up work sewing sleeping bags for the Argentinian army. Today, those skills and ethos of adventure can be seen in Rab’s full line of performance clothing, sleeping bags, mountaineering tents, and extreme expedition gear.
