Product Description
Crafted from thick grade-2 titanium with stainless steel bolts and nuts, these sturdy finger spinners are equal parts looks and performance. Thanks to their hybrid ceramic bearing, they’re capable of spinning for minutes at a time Read More
I'm starting to hate the fidget spinner trend (mostly due to the retards at my school who can't stop spinning them). A butterfly knife/trainer is much more satisfying to fidget with in my opinion.
Mine has arrived, it is very quiet and smooth, but the spin times aren't great, around 1 - 2 minutes. For comparison I managed to get 3 - 4 minutes with a fake torqbar out of the box and over 5 minutes when I cleaned the bearings. It's still fun to spin in your hand though, the design makes it easier to get up to a high speed compared to the torqbar design. I think I'll be carrying this one more than the fake torqbar.
The construction is solid, but the finishing isn't great. I'm not sure what process they used to create the shape, but it seems to have a few imperfections that you wouldn't usually expect if this had been CNC'd.
Also seeing two mins approx spin times with starfigter. Listening to the whirring noise as it spins I have also concluded that long spin times are pointless pursuing as the design is a spinning air brake.
However I like the design, looks like a triumvirate of Mjolnir!
RE: spin times, I'm getting around 1m15s or more consistently on a table. Bearing is slightly audible but fairly smooth and minimal lateral play, small amount of vertical play.
Miguel_SanchezYeah, agreed, and the design (starfighter) is also like an air brake :)
I love it now tho after having played with it for a month, I don't care about spin times.
dealaholicthey're fidget spinners. they're when you can't keep your hands still or you're bored and you don't have a phone.
they are a pretty niche market, so the best makers either do exotic materials or have unique shapes.
as for the tactical look, some people like to pretend they served their country with stolen valor.
Miguel_SanchezI serve my country by paying my taxes, but I do salute the real heroes.
Thanks for the detailed response. different strokes for diff folks.
is titanium a good choice in a spinner? seems like copper brass steel or tungsten would spin longer with the added mass. Is the build quality of this thing worth spending $60 over copper tri-star shaped spinners available on amazon for about $20? I'm in this drop and have never handled a spinner, so these questions are not meant to put down the product.
lobstercopper and brass are dense, but pretty soft. titanium is lighter but much stronger. and more expensive.
msrp is actually $120 on their site, which is on par with the torqbar and rotablade stubby.
you get what you pay for basically. and amazon gouges you with seller fees.
so a $20 spinner is really $15. and with markup you can basically question how they can make a quality spinner with roughly $10 worth of materials and work.
