I bought one of the original V500 keyboards for $40. It's not the best build quality in the world but for a travel board it isn't bad. Kailh Yellows are the same as Kailh Reds, but when these were originally manufactured, Kaihua was not yet manufacturing the Reds. The Yellows are now discontinued. I really can't complain too much for the price. I don't know about the stabilized keys as I haven't tried replacing them yet, but the rest of the keys are standard size and will be easy to replace. For those asking, Kailh is 100% compatible with Cherry switches so you can replace switches with Kailhs, Cherry, or any other Cherry clone like Noppoo, Gateron, Greetech, Outemu, etc.

Not certain about the V500s, but the V500 uses Yellow Kailhs, not these Rapoos as described on several websites.

furthermore, the spacing of the stabiliser on the space bar looks as though you wouldn't even be able to replace the plate mounts with costar stabilisers when changing keycaps. (i have a v500 and a v700).
as for build quality, the v500 is nothing special, not terrible; the pcb and casing are reasobly thick. the v500s i imagine would be similar.

This is the kind of product that gives Mechanical Keyboards a bad name.
Even the first gen Keycool products were better than this!
What's next? TVS-e Gold?

Dat feeling when price + shipping + taxes for a budget board can actually land you a nice Filco, Topre or KBParadise one from a shop next door...

I'm in this boat. "Shop next door" is 45 minutes away and in there they only have the Razer Blackwidow as a mech. Hopped onto the V60 drop that ended a couple weeks ago. Keyboard just came in today. Waiting to get home so I can actually break it out and see what it's like.

Yeah, read some reviews and it sounds like the build quality here isn't the best. Here is one review http://apcmag.com/rapoo-v500-yellow-switch-keyboard.htm/

Even if that is true - where would someone obtain Rapoo switches when they start failing?

Looks like the yellow switches are linears, around the weight of MX blues.

This review of a similar keyboard from the same manufacturer describes the programming in detail.
