What a deal! You buy jeans sized with a 30" waist and you get 32.5 inches??? That's incredible!!!! It's like reality has finally bent to the whim and will of my personal insecurities! Now I can lie about how fat I am, but not actually be lying as long as I phrase it just so. I also get to feel like a smart shopper because I got a whole 2 sizes for free... Incredible!
One of the best things about mens' clothing is that it's sized in quantifiable and easily communicated units. If you have a 30" waist, it's a size 30. The end. That's the only way buying clothes online is feasible. Don't ruin it for us; don't ruin it for yourselves. Leave vanity sizing to the plus sized women's outlets.

spectre6000Unsanforized denim will shrink 7-10%, which is probably the reason for the sizing offset, rather than "vanity" sizing.

spectre6000Not saying your logic is wrong, but "vanity sizing" is a real thing on men's jeans/pants. The reason these more boutique brands use the sizing they do is because it does match up with the name-brand sizing. I've got 2-3 pairs of Levi jeans labeled 34" waist that actually measure closer to 36" on a tape measure.
The company listing the actual measurements of the jeans (including waist, thigh, knee, etc.) makes it much easier to order online because you can just grab a pair of jeans you own that fit well and measure them to compare to their sizing (a good idea if you're spending $150+ on jeans).

spectre6000Hi @spectre6000-
Pardon my bluntness, but your understanding of how clothing is sized is incorrect. What you're seeing is present in virtually all men's clothing (in other words, a size 30 doesn't measure 30" at the waist - from this brand or any other common one). If you measure jeans you already own you will find that this is the case. Compare the actual waist measurement from the chart to the measurement from a pair you own to see which size would fit best. You will probably be the same size.
TLDR: size 30 jeans does not mean 30" wait, on this pair or any other.
