Really, guys? Really??? They tell you the MSRP of 250$, so you all go race to pay a 115$ for a 60% keyboard pcb and it's case? You'll have to pay an extra 60$ over that to get non-backlit switches that you'll have to solder on yourself and cheap *PBT* keycaps. 173$ is not far from the price I paid for my corsair K95 *backlit* RGB - that has almost double it's number in switches and caps. I don't know... What are you getting for all of this? RGB lights on the bottom and a gimicky novelty remote to control them?
If you're going to invest that kind of cash and energy into a keyboard project, why don't you go the extra mile in invest into something like the ergodox.
http://falbatech.pl/ 1 euro = 1.12 USD (today's rate)
ergodox PCB: 25euro tinsy : 20 euros mx blue switches (on special today at .56eu / switch, 43 euros for 76) red /transparent acrylic case color 52 eu keycaps 30euros (104 keycaps)
You can probably save some money on keycaps and case if you find a cheap place to 3d print.
total : 180 euros (202 USD)
It's a bit more money but unlike this remote controlled monstrosity, it is actually special.

thebunnyrulesFor me, the deal breaker of any off the shelf keyboard is full-programmability. If any major keyboard manufacturer can offer fully programmable keyboard using common opensource firmware like TMK and QMK, then I will consider it. But until then, all my keyboards will have to be custom built ones.

thebunnyrules60% keyboards are the most popular size. If you're talking about the best bang for your buck, there are a lot of other cheaper keyboards but that's not the reason why people bought this one. It's mostly for novelty reasons of building their own and also the GMK keycap set (for the whole set, not just 68 keys). Not to mention this can be fully customized with different layouts, something the K95 can't do.

thebunnyrulesGetting your point! I wish people would just stop trying to tell others, what they should buy/like/prefer.
In a free world, to bad not everywhere, people should be able to live/buy/speak up to their own liking without others trying to convince them following their path.
It seems this wish is so simple, but can't be reached. Crazy stupid world we're living in sometimes!

thebunnyrulesI like your analogy, everyone should be doing cost saving comparison and not just hand their money to vendors. Too bad the alternative buy here - K95, have no grip over me. I don't like those so called gamer orientated products that just puts flashing lights everywhere (I won't be flashing rs68's rgb none stop either) with non-minimalistic designs that looks like they belong to some wrestling arena (to be fair k95 isn't the worse in this sense). More importantly, it's not good furniture. The k95 will make me look like the stereotype university gaming addict (sorry to those that owns this) and most likely arouse wife aggro (very important to avoid). After doing my own research this 65% is currently only available on taobao for roughly 2k rmb, which is alot more than here. 65% keyboards aren't regularly available on the market, those that are (V68m, magic force), have a very different layout (https://m.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/4ciatx/guide_65_keyboards_what_they_are_and_where_to_get/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=true). The only other keyboard that I can think of (not absolute), that is directly comparable to this is probably the white-fox, which I like equally if not more. But that ship has sailed (for now).
I appreciate different analogy coming from different perspective. Always happy if there is a better/cheaper option.

thebunnyrulesNo one here is buying it because it's a great deal, well it's a pretty good deal for what you get but it's not about saving money. Doing something from a kit with programmable hardware is a hobby for a lot of people. Being able to choose your own switches including some zealios adds a certain cache that people want. I own a k70 and it's a great board and is a great conversation starter with it's bright rainbow colors slowly moving through the keys and I added some bright magenta caps for the function and arrow keys. I like it a lot, but this is completely different. I hate the ergodox. It's not something I want to type on and isn't going to save me any money in the long run. Bottom line, you don't get to be the arbiter of value and then tell people they are wasting their money if they don't see it your way. Don't be that dude that just craps on other people because you don't understand them. There is value here. 150+ people have decided that value is real and worthwhile. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to daydreaming about the customization I'm going to do with my red scarf where there are a ton of possibilities that I won't get with a non custom board.
