Can someone please explain why people buy these, like are they more cost effective, is it just fun, do they write better than normal pens. Because, I can not see the point of purchasing a (for example) buying a 50 dollar pen.
IntriguedConsumer44Its a slippery slope. I was like that a number of years ago ... then I started with 1, then 2 ... next thing I know, I somehow justified spending about a fortnights salary on a pen.
IntriguedConsumer44Recently ordered stationary from Massdrop. The stationery and ink pens make a nice combination. i have not used this type of pen for years. I'm expecting the fountain pens to be a nice change for writing cards and notes.
IntriguedConsumer44Fountain pens and Cursive writing add a bit of style and zen to our written communication.
Even if you write in Block letters there is a calm deliberation required to make letters formed as legible and consistent as possible. The movement of the hand and the placement of the fingers are all taken for granted but think about this a minute.....You can feel some accomplishment by being able to "type" a hundred words a minute but it will never replace the art of "writing" a sentence or two .......IMHO
IntriguedConsumer44Well owning a collection of fountain pens, my recommendation would be to get a pilot pen and or one of off mr pen. I tend to reach for them more often then not. Twisbi is great also but never see it on massdrop. I'm sure heaps of people will disagree with my comments above.
IntriguedConsumer44Writing with a fountain pen is, for me, a pleasurable tactile experience. I'm a writer for a living and therefore must take a lot of notes, and doing so with my pilot custom 74 or Levenger true writer select or colibri equinox is a hell of a lot more fun than with a Bic. Add to that all the myriad colors of inks you can use, the friendly subculture, the wow factor when you pull out a new pen at the office, and I can't think of a better (though admittedly expensive) hobby.
