I have one of these pens in my collection, from a previous drop. I like its ink capacity, finding the Akashiya brush pen refill, Platinum and Aurora cartridges fit these pens nicely. With larger, tapered international long cartridges (refilled with my favorite ink) these discontinued Queen FPs have a decent ink capacity. I wish there were more nib choices, but I have not attempted to change my nib. Tends to write a little wet, but flows nice with J. Herbin, Parker Quink, Pelikan, Sheaffer, and Lamy inks. The red (which is my FP's color) is already sold out, otherwise I might be tempted to grab another.

sallenI just grabbed one of these on this drop, and I'm concerned about finding a suitable converter. Have you found any that fit, or will I have to refill the cartridges? Thanks for your time

DeathintheafternoonI have not yet found a converter that did not leak everywhere and piss me off to no end. I ended up buying about a dozen or so different makes of international long cartridges, until I found ones that would fit. The Lamy international long cartridges need some trimming to fit and may have to be tapped out, but the others I mentioned work well. For some reason, about every three or so Akashiya pen refills leak, so I reuse one that did not leak until it starts to then toss I it. I've tried a few generic converters and so far none seal well enough, that I trust them in my EDC case. This pen is one I keep in my desk at home, rather than in my EDC case, as I do not trust it enough not to leak. I do like using this pen as a test platform for new inks, especially now that I am playing mad scientist mixing different ink colors. I love the color of the red pen, but wish mechanically that it worked a little better. I haven't given up on a converter yet as I still scour Ebay and the online retailers for a converter that I have not tried yet.

DeathintheafternoonI used a converter from a my Waterman and it worked great. Then I lost my pen, damn it! So I am getting another with this drop. For an inexpensive pen, I loved my first one. I also bought the last Regal pen drop, one that was a bit cheaper even than this one, and I love it too.

jackcr54So the Waterman brand converter on jetpens is worth a shot? At only 6$ it wouldn't be much of a hassle. This is my first non disposable fountain pen, and I cant wait to get writing with it

jackcr54Interesting, because for me, the Waterman converter leaked slightly, and tended to provide ink in an inconsistent manner, causing puddles and smudges. I have found that for some reason the cheaper converters work better in this pen, but all so far have leaked slightly. Now I am tempted to grab another just to see if it is just my pen, or all of these pens that leak with every converter I have tried.

sallenRegarding the inks that you mentioned in your post, would these also be cartridges? I tend to write with blue ink only and I want to be prepared to write with my pen as soon as I receive it. Thanks for any information that you can provide.

EditrixSorry for the delay in response, I just saw this. I have had better luck with cartridges in these pens than I have with a couple of generic converters. With a dab of silicone grease around the nipple, the Waterman converter leaks very slightly and is so far the best of the bunch. I mostly use Lamy international long cartridges trimmed slightly. I have to use a dental pick to pull the empty Lamy cartridge out, but the ink capacity is great. Lately, I have been leaving the stuck-in-place Lamy cartridge and refilling the pen with an eyedropper. Holding the pen upright while I screw the pen back together minimizes spills.
