I received mine in good order from the post office. Though my shipping address did not seem to properly update to my new apartment, I was home with my folks when it arrived, a lovely surprise after a long day of travel. I don't know how smooth the black paint job should be on the pen, but I do notice the tool marks from where it was turned by the lathe, and a visible/tactile demarcation where the pen taper stops to meet up with the cap. Also the knurls on my cap seemed to have spots of bare aluminum showing through where the paint must not have reached, it is very minor. <br /><br />Despite all this I love the pen to death, it has excellent mass for it's size (brass might even be better) and with a parker fine point refill writes extremely smoothly. I plan on upgrading it to a high tech-c refill as soon as I meet the minimum price for free shipping from jetpens.com . <br /><br />If you want to read any more about it, I put a short post on my site. http://www.patricksante.com

NoiseTrackerI got genuine Hi-Tec C refills from chinese vendors on eBay for real cheap- something to consider. Although for me, the parker medium tip (which is pretty fine tip for me) ballpoint works best.
