Now on the the product. I only use Arkansas stones on all of my knives. I have three 10" stones and since Arkansas stones are natural and not man made there isn't a grit per se for them. It's more of a rough, medium and hard/smooth designation. If you are trying to sharpen a dull knife it is going to take FOREVER on a hard/smooth Black Arkansas stone. Theses stones are the last step after you have replaced your dull edge with the other two stones. If you know what you are doing you can get surgical sharp knives with a Black Arkansas but it shouldn't be your starting point. If you already have a decent edge then yeah I suppose it it's an alright deal. Being originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas myself where quarries are close to, I just went to the source and and got my three 10" stones for around $150 if I remember right. Hall's and Dan's are the two biggest that produce their stones in house. Hall's are a little more affordable especially if they are having a sale and for my money are working fine.
And best of all, it's cost efficient! Being flat black on both sides, you can use one side, turn it over, and use the other!
