Isn't this a horrible compared to the Panasonic Lumix Lx100?

DextronWhen my dog chewed on my Ricoh GR I and broke the screen, I was kind of glad he did because it was an excuse to upgrade to a better compact camera, like the LX100 or G7X.
In the end I went back to mirrorless though.
I kind of liked how old-school the GR was (tons of physical controls, prime lens and a big sensor, no image stabilization) and the build quality was top notch. But the focal length wasn't a good fit for me.

DextronI have both and prefer the GR II over the LX100. The GR II focuses faster, has a bigger sensor, and a sharper lens. The LX100 has awful lens flare, slow AF, and the sensor is smaller. I'm a street photographer, and the GR II is the perfect stealth camera, IMHO.

DextronThe sensor is much better in the GR, and that's one of the important aspects when choosing the camera: http://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-LX100-versus-Ricoh-GR___981_874

DextronFrom what I read Ricoh has best bang for buck still performance in its class, as in compact APS-C camera with fixed lens. It also has a solid build. LX100 might beat it in video performance and in range (fixed vs zoom). Ricoh also lacks viewfinder but you can fix it by purchasing add-on OVF or EVF.
As for focal length - 28mm I'd say it's good for general travel photography. My Lumia 930 has 26 equiv and it worked great for landscape and city tourism.

ChomiqI got the LX100 thru Greentoe and it shipped from Andromeda. I saved 20% when it first came out. I own an original LX3 and considered an LX7. Happy I waited and got the micro 4/3rds sensor LX100. It comes with built in EVF. Focuses fast and accurate so long as it's in AFS mode. Continuos AF tends to creep. Low light performance is great! Still not a pocket camera with that big Leica designed lens. All around happy with my choice.
