The hrc on steel depends on the heat treat and is vastly different between brands. M390 varies all the way from around 58hrc to 62hrc and there is a noticeable difference.

Matthew2989Last 2 knives in M390 from Rike I had came in right around 61, so I think that's a safe bet. It's where I usually like my M390.

My knife arrived and quality is fantastic for the price, EXCEPT: The knife is virtually impossible to open via the flipper. If I use all the strength in my finger, ignore the pain from the jimping digging in, blade will eventually fling open 1000 mph. Based on youtube videos of this knife opening, guessing this isn't the expected behavior. On the upside, easy to believe it uses bearings, very smooth once you get it past that opening. Anyone else have this problem? Contacted Massdrop support for help

XaldeBy way of update: I contacted massdrop on the 13th, and was informed that due to the nature of the problem, it was sent to a specialty support group. After a while with no contact, I re-contacted massdrop support and was told the same thing. This illustrates the risk of buying here, I suppose: I saved a few dollars, but anyone unlucky enough to have a problem, might wait weeks to be contacted by massdrop -- and even now, over a week later, I've heard nothing and have no idea whether they'll even take ownership or somehow try to convince me that delivering a folding knife that won't open isn't defective. How many weeks until this is resolved? Definitely not worth saving a few dollars but giving up support -- any decent knife shop would have completely resolved it by now, I can't even get a contact by email

XaldeFinal update: Massdrop support finally contacted me. They handled the problem instantaneously, with a solution that made me very happy. I am still a little irritated they made me sweat 2 weeks from the time I filed, but could not be happier with how they responded once they got around to me.

Got this one on Massdrop sometime ago. It is a an absolute beauty and tough. Fit and finish are excellent. Better than my other US made flippers. It's a very light, attractive knife that makes a great daily carry. It's fairly elegant looking as well. Any time it's out people ogle as it. I also love that it has ceramic bearings. I have a ZT flipper with not-ceramic bearings. Won't do that again. They lasted a year and then started to rust out. ZT replaced them when I bought a new blade for $35. Still, ceramic is the way to go. Period.

Dang, if there was the purple/blue that rike does I'd be in.
tskillerNot positive, but I *think* the blue one in this drop *is* the purple/blue. It doesn't help that there's only one photo, since the color depends on the lighting, but you can kinda see a purple tinge in some spots. Compare to the photos at https://www.knivesandtools.com/en/pt/-rike-rk803ch-b-blue-carbon-fibre-inlay-pocket-knife.htm. In the first 3 photos it looks blue with a slight purple tinge (kinda like Massdrop's photo), but in the 5th thru 7th it looks purple with blue highlights.
tskiller Errrr... though maybe this is blue/purple instead of purple/blue? :)

I have a CH3507 and it is a better flipper then some knives that are over double the price. The two are brothers and both have amazing designs. CH offers some great stuff for almost budget prices. Awesome drop, I’m too poor right now though...

Got mine on Thursday but I just got to check it out on Friday. Amazing quality and build, plus from what I can tell, MD saved us about 36 bucks as they are retailing for 235 ish on knife sites.

The Drop was made in my mailbox today! Got my Blinkle, Rike 803CH (cute little CH logo on the backspacer). Nice knife, Blade drops shut after adding a drop of super-lube to the detent ball and it's sharp enough to push cut receipt paper. Only minor issues are, The jimping on the flipper tab is a bit aggressive so ur finger is gonna get sore after about 15 min of flipping. Be sure to keep ur finger away from the lockbar as it will require a lot more pressure on the flipper tab, Resulting in premature boo boo on flipper finger. Lastly , They cheated me out of a microfiber cloth! What is it with the Chinese not wanting to give you a napkin? lol

WoodyBaltoI received mine today too. Just what I was hoping for in an everyday flipper. Real nice.
