The Rockwell "R1" is a fake Rockwell razor. It is a cheaply mass-manufactured razor from China that is available under many different names. It isn't mentioned ANYWHERE on the actual website. (https://rockwellrazors.com/)
The 6C is a real Rockwell razor, albeit from their "budget" line.
As others have said, this is an aliexpress product that got rebranded and then sold for 200% markup.
Razorblades are also likely Aliexpress rebrands; I have bought a pack of 50 blades for 4USD on there before. They werent good quality.
So, I tried searching through aliexpress for 'Safety Razor' and 'Weishi Razor'. I couldn't find an exact that looks like the R1 (from head to handle). I found a Baili that has a handle strikingly similar to the R1 (but not exact), and a Weishi with a head that looks the same as the R1 but has a different handle.
I made a purchase for the 6C. More than the R1, my big concern here is that the 6C is also a decent quality (or worse) re-brand. :(
fumobsThe 6C is not a re-brand. AFAIK, Rockwell's design with the 3 plates giving you 6 different setting is unique only to Rockwell. There are other adjustable razors on the market, but most use a dial at the neck of the razor to change the blade gap.
I used cheaper clones before I bought my 6S. I had the Wieshi and also had a Maggard which is modeled after an Edwin Jagger design. The 6S will continue to be my go to razor until I upgrade to one of those higher end ones.
A different product obviously, but how does the 6C compare to something like an Edwin Jagger DE89? I still hate shaving, but switched from cartridge to DE years ago and still use my Edwin Jagger. I would say coarse-ish hair, prone to ingrowns and razor bumps.
OE800The 6C you can change the base plate where you basically have 6 different settings. You might benefit from being able to change the blade gap if you have coarse-ish hair.
BrodyB$20 for 100 blades isn't really a good deal if you're just getting it for the blades. You can get a 100 pack of feathers for half the price, and those are one of the more pricier brands.
EliadIt can get quite aggressive but still remains a very smooth shaver. Due to the amount of blade exposed you do not get a rough shave (prep/blade dependent etc) and I shave with the 6 plate.
This doesn't look like my Rockwell at all. Not to mention there was a waiting list for it and I seriously doubt that it'd be on Massdrop. Who is the vendor for this Rockwell set?
AgavehoundThe R1 only is a rebranded razor. There is the option here for the 6C model that released and shipped a while ago. Both are authentic Rockwell products.
This is really a garbage razor called a weishi that's rebranded and sold in Target and Walmart. Search Alibaba and cost is $3 each wholseale. Low quality function and quality from a company that scams people on kickstarter promising Stainless Steel razor and never even delivering die cast zamack junk. Avoid!
