As a current owner I'd definitely say this is worth it as an entry level microphone, depending on your needs. If you're doing interviews, commercials, documentaries... mostly one-on-one shoots with a single subject at a time, this system is amazing. Very easy to set up- put in batteries, turn on units, and go. They automatically pair, the levels are pretty good default (though I flicked the switch on the transmitter to give myself +10db for just a little more volume), and its just super convenient. For the price there is no comparison. If you want any other equivalent wireless system, you're looking at paying closer to $500-600.
However, if you're in need of multiple channels, and multiple transmitters all feeding into that receiver, you're tough out of luck. These RodeLink systems are one-on-one only. One transmitter pairs to one receiver, that's it. Doesn't matter if you buy more transmitters (which, AFAIK they do not currently sell standalone from the kit), you're only going to have a single paired system. If that's important to you- if you're hoping to use this system for panel discussions, for multi-person interviews, for bigger film productions with multiple lead actors- this isn't the best solution. It's an amazing budget solution compared to what you'd be paying for an equivalent Sennheiser or AudioTechnica solution, but what you save in money you lose in functionality for larger scope projects.
