Great multipurpose jacket
First off... I am 6', and about 13st. I normally take a L or about 41" chest. Based on lots of reading, I went for a 'small', and I am glad I did. With the lining, it allows for a light sweater, fleece or shirt and still doesn't feel uncomfortable. Without the liner, I can wear anything from a light shirt to a heavy sweater & shirt together and it fits very comfortably. I get that if I went for a M or L, I could pack more layers inside, but where I live it rarely drops below about -4C, so in the size I ordered, I have a jacket that I can wear 3/4 seasons and be comfortable. It is supposed to be at least water resistant, and inasmuch as cotton can be, it does pretty well. Stay too long in the rain though and it will eventually soak through. The liner is warm, and easy to remove and install. I have it more than 2 years now and it is worn very regularly. No real fading to speak of it or any wear or thread pulls. It has a 'lived in' look but that's about it. Very happy.

just like my old field jacket
i am a retired AF MGST and wanted a new field jacket, without having to find one at the BX or clothing sales. this is definitely a suitable sub. I'm really please with this jacket.

It's okay
Comfy, if you have a real M-65 (i.e., one from your time in the military) order one size up. The liner is nice, fits well. One of the zipper snaps on mine ripped thru the fabric, but basically, it's worth what you pay.

Doing well as we progress into winter
Purchased this through MassDrop during warm weather and have only recently been able to use it as the weather gets colder. It's been in the 30's as I go to work and it keeps me warm all the way. Haven't needed the liner yet as it has not gotten that cold for an extended period. I intend to use it as I travel over the holidays and into winter.

Solid fit, durable, effective.
So it runs large because it's designed to fit a quilted liner underneath. I've been wearing mine for 2 and a half years doing activities that would shred a normal coat. Throwing. Chains on a semi in -5 weather no problem. Windy Wyoming winters no problem. Rain in the spring, ditch the liner and stay dry. It's a mass production intended for the military as long as you know what everything else that's designed with that purpose in mind is like you'll enjoy the coat

Not a field quality coat
I have a couple of thrift store finds of a rothco military issue jacket and this is nothing even close. The fabric is flimsy and started to pill after 2 washings. I understand this isn't milspec but its not a dependable piece of garment for being outdoors. I would avoid.
