Icywolfethey've been out of production for awhile now so it's possible they were fixing that issues, maybe?

dyvogNot sure but I have a 800 and 800+ bought around the same time and a few of my class mates who has/had the 800 said it tends to break the lead inside due to the lead wobbling. And I ended up going a week trade for my 800+ for their 800 and the 800 just breaks the lead easily due to that while the 800+ just doesn't. Although the 800+ looks like a cheap stylus..... that is the down side. Not sure why is this the case. Visually the 800 and 800+ looks exactly the same.
Although in my opinion the best pencil so far I've used is the Pilot S20. Nothing wobbles on that, but man the tip is sharp. (It already drew blood 3 times)

Icywolfeyeah i have a 0,7 800+ and i have no complaints.
admittedly, the stylus leaves a lot to be desired but aesthetically, I prefer the black tip to the gold, the stylus seems to have some additional function, while the gold tip does not, despite maybe durability.
it would be good to know if they sell replacement 800+ tips though, it would be a bummer to have a ruined pencil just because the stylus doesn't hold up.

JasonLeeYeah I did that. That is how my 800 is "useable" but I used the pen for weeks without knowing that fix. Oh the rage filled me up till I got the 800+. The 800 also has the brass wiggle which I fixed by scotched tape. This raises the same question: Why is that the 800+ is like perfect out of the box but for the 800 you need to fix it yourself.

dyvogI just find the stylus makes the pen look extremely cheap looking especially when I went to Walgreens recently and I saw a stylus that looked exactly like the 800+ for 12.95 USD.
On the 800+ the stylus tip seems like good quality enough to be built to last.

IcywolfeI'm not entirely sure I understand so please bear with me. You applied the "fix" mentioned in my link and now your 800 writes the same as your 800+? I ask because if so, I am fine with doing a little bit of work to get the 800 instead of the 800+. The 800+ looks a bit goofy with the stylus and many reviews confirm that it is pretty much useless in that regard (stylus). I am not sure why the 800+ is perfect out of the box whereas the 800 needs some tweaking, but I am sure many people who have joined this drop would not mind spending a minute or two to get the 800 over the 800+, if in the end there is no performance decrease. Thank you.
P.S. Can you link the "tape fix?" I know I read about it somewhere, or saw it in a video, but I cannot find it again for some reason.

JasonLeeThat tape fix was from a long time ago. For some reason I can't find it again. But I used super thin tape that u find the in the 99cent stores. And you put it on the brass part.
After the fixes 800 writes like a 800+ but your mileage can vary. I tried the tape fix on a classmate's pencil but his pencil just jams up. So his one is just left wobbly on the brass piece.
The brass part wobbling on the 800 and the 800+ can be due to the stylus tip. I think they added another narrower piece of metal to latch on to the stylus tip and that makes the 800+ solid.
I should actually check if these fixes voids the warranty.....

IcywolfeAh I see, that's too bad. I hope that the 800s from this drop don't have that problem, as I'm not sure how a exchange/return process would go.

JasonLeeWith all the reviews on the net I feel that there will still be a wobble but more than likely you can fix it. Out of the 8 buddies I know use the 800 only 1 of them cant use the tape fix. I guess that is some good odds.
I wish I can find some grip of the 800 and the 800+ so I can cut one in half and compare them. Because it does look like the 800+'s grip is slightly thinner at the hole where the brass tip comes out.
But most won't really notice it while writing or light sketching. But you are doing stuff like with rulers, you will definitely notice something.
But I asked the guy who I cant fix for the pencil and I checked it out. (Directions are based on when the clip is pointing up and grip tightened.) Up and down is wobbly but left and right is more solid. When I checked inside there is some type of crimping of the metal on the sides and those are solid. (Sorry its hard to explain, would be much nicer to show you.)

IcywolfeJust received my pencil (0.5mm/black) and there does not seem to be any give or lead breakage when I retract the tip. I am very happy with the pencil. I'm not sure if I got lucky, or if Rotring fixed the previous issues. Pictures:

JasonLeeHey @JasonLee -- That's great news. rOtring experienced some problems on the production line for all of their models and were not shipping new stock for some time.
Our understanding is that stock provided for this drop is all up to standards, but I definitely want to hear from anyone who is not 100% happy with the quality.
