Big, cool looking knife. Generic, budget 440A stainless steel is fairly tough and wear resistant so it can stand up to a good amount of use, especially with that full tang. The trade off is 440A is not as hard as some other steels and tends to dull faster. Remember, the harder the steel the longer it holds an edge, but that makes it harder to sharpen and more prone to chipping or breaking under rough use. Harder steel is great in a pocket knife, but you want a bit softer and tougher steel in a big ol' knife like this one. Should be easy to sharpen though and take a good edge. Even though it's "stainless" it will still need to be kept clean, oiled and sharpened on occasion.
My experience with Rough Rider knives is they are good values for what they are, but don't expect superb fit and finish. It's a budget knife after all, but not junk. If price drops to $22.99 + $3.95 shipping, you will save a buck and change over buying it at Smokey Mountain Knife Works.
