When I received this keyboard I was very happy with how it looked. Everything worked fine, key strokes felt great.
After a few weeks the keyboard sometimes did not 'start up' when I started up my PC. The solution was unplugging the USB everytime that happened and it would start working properly again. After a few months the keystrokes started to press double letters if I only pressed a key once. I only used it for gaming in that time, so it did not matter. Later on I needed to write more on the keyboard and noticed it was not only one key, but it became more keys. I thought something was wrong with my motherboard, tried all different USB plugs.... but nothing solved it except for turning on some setting in windows that does not repeat keystrokes within a certain amount of time. When I tried my boyfriends Logitech keyboard for a little while I experienced none of the above faults, so the problem was not my PC but the keyboard.
Eventhough the keyboard looks great, I don't think it is worth the money if it breaks down after a few months.
I have now bought a new keyboard (from a big brand) that works perfectly.
i got this keyboard a few weeks ago, and here's a review so far.
this was my first mechanical keyboard and it felt MUCH better than easier to type on that my old membrane keyboard. in fact, after about a week, i tried typing on the old one and it felt so much mushier. very glad i bought this. i was leaning towards not buying it since it's offbrand and since it's cheap, i thought that it might be defective. i'm glad that i stuck with my decision to buy it. every key lights up in every color, and all of the lighting affects advertised are possible. i do have a FEW complaints with the RBG backlighting though. first of all, the manual is very confusing so i had to figure out most of it on my own. it helped a lot knowing that everything above the arrow keys changes the backlighting using the FN key. if you want the keyboard to be in a solid color, your options are red, yellow, green, teal, dark blue, pink, and white. now, before i bought the product, i was told that the backlighting was purple, but i find it to be a mix of pink and purple. i'm still very satisfied because i end up using the rainbow wave at day, and making the backlighting white at night to avoid distractions. a very minor thing (me being a bit picky) was the enter key at first. so the old membrane keyboard had the european style enter key where it's not as long horizontally but there was more space vertically. when i got the keyboard, i found myself pressing the \ key instead of the enter key, but i got used to it quickly and i never end up missing the enter key anymore, so hardly a problem for me. the keyboard has places for the cable to run along the keyboard (left, right, and forward) so it's more convenient for certain setups you might have. also a positive thing for me, i find that the keyboard is very sturdy and doesn't move much while playing a game or typing due to it's weight, and i'm happy since my old membrane keyboard moved a lot while using it. so i can't really give a rating or say "it's worth the price" because this is my first mechanical keyboard and i don't know how it compares to others, but all in all, i'm really happy i bought it.
so i'm considering buying this keyboard, but i keep seeing a lot of people saying that some keys don't light up or something, but i do have a question, can you make the backlight purple on the entire keyboard? if so, i'm buying.
xenodi
Yes it has purple backlighting
does anybody know how to get the entire keyboard to be orange? its not one of the preset colors, but i know that it can produce orange because if you slow down the color shift/rainbow effect it turns orange for about 1 second before it transitions into red. i jst cant seem to get it to stay orange.
i really wish there was software so you could get the exact color you want instead of only the preset colors.
I ordered this KB off of Amazon a few months ago for about $60-70 w/ prime. Shortly after I did, the price plummeted to around $50. That rustled my jimmies a little. First one I ordered had a bum light in the case (front) but I was able to get a replacement. Meanwhile, I tore apart the first one and was able to repair the wire, it got pinched in between body/screw posts and had basically a chunk bit out of it. It was easy to remedy. The PCB inside this looks pretty nice, clean and well tooled (to my inexperienced eyes) and there was to my great surprise a nice hefty metal backplate on it. I honestly thought the WHOLE thing was going to be plastic when I ordered it.
Since I've repaired it, it's been my daily driver for work and home, and it's been such an awesome board that there are now 4 or so of my colleagues using them, one of which is using my replacement one. Out of the 5 of us that have been using these for over a few months, noone has had any issues with it, and mine's not had any other than the initial light.
This keyboard looks really sweet with SA profile caps. I'm currently using my carbon/pulse SA combo on it.
My only complaint is that while the lighting modes are nice, and there's not a real shortage of them... I do wish there was an option to expand on the lighting options... To my knowledge there is not.. @draginslygj I don't believe there is any software for it, I think it's all controlled from the board itself explicitly using the FN+INS/HOME/PGUP+DN/DEL,etc.
anyone have the software for it? it's official site doesn't seem to be working and some of the keyboards that looks just liek it with different branding seem to show that it has software. i'm sure the software is cross compatible since it's essentially the same hardware with different brand printed on it. if nyone got there hadns on the software please share.
also that my keyboard doesn't seem to save the last state. if i set it one color it will be a compeltely new setting when i turn my computer on again. anyway to fix this?
This keyboard looks just like the Havit HV-KB389L that sells on Amazon.

Just got this in. Better than some of the expensive "gaming" keyboards I've tried in the past. This definitely beats the blackwidow by a long shot
WinDJ
Yeah it IS very nice in looks and use :D ..... just my 5 buttons not having green Leds working is an annoyance... luckily i wanted white or purple lighting (did want Orange first, but need green for that)
not sure what i can do..... i have the tools, i may need to replace the leds myself :/
So i got mine today, and am very happy with the board.... one major problem? ... 5 keys that the GREEN LED doesn't even work in :/ very dissapointing to be honest.... RED & Blue work fine
what to do? i'd like to, you know, have one that works as it should for a brand new, just opened and setup Keyboard.... no excuse for failed one colour leds....
that sucks :/
but do i want to go a month or more for returning and getting a fixed one? ... if thats even an option
Got mine a few days ago and I'm very glad I bought this. This is my first mechanical keyboard but I bought it purely for aesthetics, so I'm really happy that it's more than that. Other reviews said it is cheap for it's quality and just comparing the price with other brands, I agree - especially after trying them. After 2 days of using it, I think this is ideal for my office setting. I got the white one with Brown switches. The feedback, and design of the keys and board made my typing more efficient. The RGB looks cool against the white but not distracting.
where can i get the manual in english?

May help for some software control ( http://www.rkgaming.com/downloads.php ) ..... but also i came across this in a review of the 104 (non-pro) so the functions are very similar...

"Backlighting
Now, the good stuff. 馃檪
The Hero 104 features per-key RGB backlighting, meaning you鈥檙e able to customize key colors individually. Additionally, it offers a variety of active backlight modes.
Fn+Ins: 7 color cycling mode (all keys rotate through 6 colors+white). Use Fn +/- to choose between 3 speeds. Press again to pause/resume.
Fn+Home: RGB burst (RGB explosion from center of board outward). Use Fn +/- to choose between 3 speeds. Press again to enable RGB burst only while typing. Press again to lock the current color in place, then use Fn+L/R arrows to change the color. Press again to return to basic RGB burst.
Fn+Page Up: Side sweep (gradient sweeps from left to right). Use Fn+L/R arrows to change direction. Press again to pause/resume.
Fn+Del: Side RGB sweep (like side sweep, but multicolored). Use Fn+L/R arrows to change direction. Press again to pause/resume.
Fn+End: Per-key RGB mode. Press once to enter per-key typing mode, and again to program. The Win Lock LED will come on. Press keys to rotate through colors. Press Fn+End again to save configuration.
Fn+Page Down: Ghost trails (typed keys briefly illuminate and fade). Press again to toggle through colors. Brightness can also be adjusted in most of these modes using Fn + Up/Down. The Hero 104 has approximately 25 brightness levels.

Just got mine in the mail, currently using it as I type. Keyboard feels sturdy and heavy, however I have an issue. 6 of the keys GREEN LEDs are DOA. Left-Alt, F, T, F8, Down Arrow, and Num Lock. I'm not sure what to do from here. I was really excited for this keyboard, but I wasn't expecting it to be defective as soon as I got it.
Just got mine (black body, brown switches) in and I have to say I'm impressed. The switches have less friction than my point of comparison (lenovo with red switches), feel great, and have an unobtrusive, if somewhat imprecisely applied, font. The symbols are all clearly., cleanly printed, but they're printed not injected. RGB lighting instructions are nonexistent, but you figure it out by playing around. N-key rollover confirmed :D! Glad I took the plunge with Longhua switches, despite nobody ever having heard of them in the west before.
For $70, this is a fabulous fullsize keyboard!

Why does shipping take so long.....
Sem50
@Sem50 probably because it's a chinese vendor so they have to import things and send them through customs... would have been far quicker to finalize the order before the drop ended and overshoot a touch, then sell any overstock in a bazaar event, but I get why they didn't. Importing from japan often takes about this long, too. I just hope Massdrop uses a quick shipping method from warehouse to buyer
FredtheFailLord
Thx. I understand it now. I was just surprised by the acquisition and shipping window. So massdrop is essentially in the drop shipping business.
Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Royal Kludge Pro 104 RGB Mechanical Keyboard and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them. The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 8/12.
We will keep the group updated throughout the fulfillment process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/20.

Would buy if there was an option for Cherry MX.
Anyone know if this is Mac OSX compatable? @yanbowu
i love the look of this keyboard but there is one problem, are the switches any good and if not could i replace them?
Would get this for the caps alone if they were more ISO friendly. :p
I want to get this but the $33 shipping to Canada is way too brutal.
$33 shipping to aus :(

yeah it does, I really want one of these but a non removable wrist rest isn't appealing
Shipping from the US to Canada is *really* variable. Sometimes it's entirely free! Other times it's ungodly sums of money. And if there's a rhyme or reason to that, I sure as hell haven't been able to identify it; it seems to track neither the weight nor volume nor cost of the items.
tkl tkl tkl. :(
Just out of interest, what keyboard layout will these have? On the screenshots they seem to have an US layout, so will the ones we order also be in the US layout? Perhaps, could there be an option to change the layout?
Jointts
Pretty sure it's ONLY available in ANSI layout.
Does anyone know if the keys are rgb that can be switched to different static colors or are they just rainbow colored and cant be switched?
Zora
Hey, according to this video from Darkstar777 it has different modes, including static colors. http://player.youku.com/player.php/sid/XMTUxNjk2MDI3Ng==/v.swf
