If the configuration software for the lights and programmed keys worked on Linux, then I'd consider this sweet keyboard. Unfortunately, it sounds like the programming functionality would be software dependent on v Windows. Can anyone attest to this?

viper474The programming software works on Windows only. It can't even be used in a virtual machine, at least not on my MacBook.

viper474Not knowing anything about linux, if .dll's work on it, and if .exe's work on it. I wouldn't see why the software wouldn't work.
Maybe trying to attach media functions to separate keys other than what's on the board already might be a problem seeing as those are Windows commands, like volume, play, pause, my computer ect.
One solution may be just program the board on a windows machine and save the profile to the board, depending on what you want to program on it so long as it's not OS dependent functions, but moving keys around and making macros you can save all that to the board.

MTKMKIYou can sometimes run .exe's as executables through Wine. I'll try it and see if I can get it to work, though it will not be the same for everyone who uses Linux.
Also, RK's website doesn't seem to want to load at this point.
EDIT: "Keyboard is not connected!" I'll play around with it a little more and see if I can get it working.

JeolThanks guys. The media key stuff I'm not all that concerned about. I can map keys to shortcuts in Linux, if needed. I was more concerned about macros and lighting. Did I hear that macros are saved to the memory from keyboard input and software independent? I'm hoping for something like my poker 2 with lighting and extra keys (10 keyless). It can do short macros without software.

viper474The lighting comes with 7 different colors out of the box, for more colors you need the software. Macros and remapping keys and custom colors you need the software, but you can store a single profile direct to the board so the software doesn't need to be running after that. Excellent review of the board here. https://www.keychatter.com/2015/03/12/review-royal-kludge-rc930-87-rgb/

viper474As far as I can tell, there's no official way to write macros without using the software - that said, everything is stored on the keyboard (I can take lighting, macro settings from Windows to Linux), so if you can find a way to interface with the keyboard you should be able to adjust those settings, but it wouldn't be easy, especially with how flexible the programming is. If you really don't want to do that, if you can just get the .exe and the two .dlls to a working Windows machine to make the changes (and you can import them too, though I haven't tried that yet), those changes can go with you everywhere.
P.S. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the utility to work via Wine. I tried importing the drivers as both the USB and HID devices through the registry, but the software still doesn't see it. Oh well.

JeolThanks for the research. Looks like I'm going stick with my das keyboard and order it some new keycaps instead.
