Do I Need to Lube My Keyboard Switches?
Figure 1: Sometime around here is a good time to ask that question... If you’re new to the mechanical keyboard hobby, I have no doubt that planning your first keyboard build is a bit of a daunting task. To be entirely honest with you, it’s only a tiny bit less daunting for your second or even third keyboard builds should you stay around a little while longer. You’ve got the keyboard itself to worry about, stabilizers, keycaps, and even switches on top of all of the intangible marks you want your dream keyboard to hit. The sound is amazing. Overall the RC930 is very quiet, but you do get a nice, dull "thock" accompanied with a soft "shh" sound on each keystroke. The stock dental banding prevents the harsh "click" that my FC660C has on the upstroke. I really enjoy it. I almost enjoy the sound of the board more than the feel.
The stock keycaps are also surprisingly decent. They are ABS and I'll end up replacing them eventually, but they have a pretty nice texture and are fairly thick.
The backlighting looks nice and is customizable without software, but the software allows the keyboard to use even more colors so it's highly recommended to get the software from RK's site.
The case is serviceable. I don't really like the texture of it, but its construction is solid.
The cable looks nice (it's braided red and black, like the picture) but is unfortunately not removeable without mods.
I own a Poker II with MX Browns, a CODE TKL with MX Clears, and the aforementioned FC660C with 45g Topre, but this RC930 just overtook them all as my daily driver. For the price the RC930 is an absolute steal.
