Vicious Venom in Precious Pewter
Based on the Dark Origin story, this statue of Spider-Man’s arch nemesis, Venom, shows him in all his fury. The figure depicts the savage part-human, part-alien clawing at the concrete like a bull ready to charge, his tongue sticking out like a menacing snake’s. Sculpted in nightmarish detail, the figure is made from pewter, which is a durable but malleable metal alloy with an attractive luster. The pewter used by Royal Selangor is heavier and stronger than spun pewter, and it produces a resonant sound when struck gently. The model is a showcase for Malaysian artists Alan Quah and Mufizal Mokhtar, two highly respected figures in the comics and collectibles community.
