IncyYes, a basic understanding of economics. It is more than a 5" statue for some people.

IncyAsk yourself, would Yoda be concerned about the price of his own statue? Do or do not. There is no try.

loganvilleNow, now. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you have to be rude.

IncyIt's awfully similar to some posts on the artisan keycaps... '$30 for one keycap!?'. I personally don't own any of them, but I don't really think people commenting on the prices of things here adds any real value to the conversation, unless they are providing an alternative.

IncyThis is a very old company who specializes in pewter products.
As a right of passage, British style, I received a Royal Selangor pewter mug for my 18th birthday. If I was actually born in England it would make more sense because 18 is the drinking age. As an American, I thought it was kind of a cool novelty. Not to get too far into the weeds, this was quite a few years ago, beer does somehow taste better out of a pewter mug. I assume the metal is adding flavor to it.
Long story short, beautiful pewter casting of a famous pop culture character. So, not only is there a manufacturing process that costs money, there is the Royal Selangor name brand mark up, as well as the fact that I assume it is a licensed product since it features Yoda.
Is it gorgeous? Yes. Is it cool? Yes. Do you need it? No. This is a fancy decoration by a really old and respected company. Think of it as buying any piece of art.
Very cool piece, in my opinion.

namhodThanks for actually answering my question. Part of my confusion was that I regularly buy plastic & resin miniatures that are very well crafted but yet cost significantly less than this.
