Product Description
The diffusion line of a renowned Scotland-based mill, Royal Speyside employs traditional methods and machinery to produce knitwear reminiscent of the Scottish Borders area. Glad to see this are back. Last year about this time I made my first MD purchase of one of these scarves. The pattern was the clan Gordon--my ancestral clan--dress tartan. It's a lovely blue and green, w/ a bit of yellow, much easier to wear than the more common red/green tartans. I'd been looking for something to wear with the true Gordon colors for a long time; I was and continue to be very pleased with my purchase. ***Edit: these are what is being called the "diffusion line", ie, the cheaper versions. My Gordon scarf was the real deal for about 3X the price.

Agree with both @novablue22 and @adamhosman. I have the 79x19 style also and noticed how thin it is, which was mentioned by MassDrop in the Discussion. This is fine with me since the scarf is wide enough to be folded up and provide enough warmth. My only concern is that the color is much more muted than what the photos shown by MassDrop. I was looking for bright color scarf and was attracted by the bright colors and interesting patterns in the photos. Massdrop should present these scarves under natural light.

I'm very happy with the purchase. It was shipped and delivered within two days and the scarf is very nicely made. I got the Blue Classic Check and I really like it. The only thing that is an issue is how thin it is. This is definitely not to be worn on an extremely cold day.

I got two of these. They’re quite soft and seem to be nicely made. I’ll share some considerations: - They are very thin, definitely not for the hard of winter (79x19” model weighs only 106 grams) - They're packaged in a plain unbranded plastic bag (with one understated tag inside), not very good for a potential gift item - Colors are somewhat darker than on photos (they were very brightly lit, I assume)

I bought a Royal Speyside Tartan scarf in November '17. I love it. I think I'll get one of these.

Can someone comment on why the larger size scarves cheaper? I assume they are thinner.

ZZ_UPennFrom what I can tell, slightly thinner. Both sizes are quite thin, which makes them feel a bit more elegant, IMO
