Can anyone help me understand what makes these hats worth this much money?
I'm not saying they aren't worth it, I suppose there's a good reason. I just need someone to illuminate me.

DaaaMaterial quality & thickness, construction, brand name (guarantee / peace of mind).
You can of course buy cashmere sweaters for as much (or even less) from Uniqlo on sale. I have. And I also have more expensive cashmere stuff. The difference is very noticeable after a season. The Uniqlo sweaters are great for the money, don't get me wrong. But even more expensive merino wool feels better than the cheap cashmere sweaters after one season. These hats will probably last longer and feel good for longer, which is why you're paying more.

DaaaThere is $0.00 worth in these hats, just to be clear you're paying for fashion, you're paying for brand, you're paying for a (awful awful awful) fashion trend. That is literally it.
These were made by a machine.

DaaaCashmere + made in Scotland. It is too thin in my opinion. But for such hat, normal retail price is about $70-120 and it can be more expensive.
