"Designed by the folks over at RPMWEST, who have gained a following for their high-end denim apparel"
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the connection...
"this chef’s knife is made to last four times longer than others in its category."
Looking at the kickstarter for this knife, it seems the claim or '4 times as long' is referring to edge retention. Based on the diagram there, comparing 'German Forged Steel' to 'Forged Steel' (twice as long) and 'Standard Steel' I'd say it's safe to conclude that this claim is largely nonsense, unless the category these knives belong to is the 'cheapest dollar store knives you can find' category.

The wooden handles look like they came from an arts and crafts stall, and I wonder about their durability. The two knives pictured show some variance in handle shape, and it seems that this is not specific to the wood you select, just the random variance you can expect no matter the wood chosen.
There's no mention either here or on their kickstarter of tang construction or how the handles are attached. Looking at the area where the handle meets the bolster the fit and finish isn't the best, but at least they don't have full bolsters which make sharpening a pain.
I just don't see why anyone would purchase this knife when there are so many similar knives around for the same kind of money, from reputable knife makers that are still in business and can actually stand behind their products.
