In response to the overwhelming number of requests for a high-quality A5 notebook cover—specifically for the Rhodia Webnotebook—we’re excited to launch this new custom product, a collaboration with our friends at Rustico. With the inspired craftsmanship the Utah-born brand has built its name on, the Rustico A5 Webnotebook Cover does the Webbie justice—and it’s available exclusively on Massdrop.

It started with a bookbinding course, some top-grain leather, and a ream of cotton rag paper. Now, Rustico employs more than 30 people and produces a range of fine leather and paper goods, from journals to wallets and beyond. Made with top-grain cowhide sourced from American tanners, this smooth leather cover protects your journal while giving it character, and even includes a pen sleeve that is flush to the cover when not in use. Avoid leaving it in the sun, and steer clear of chemicals; over time, the natural oils on your skin will give the cover a patina of creases, scuffs, and fades to reflect your personal use.

Hardbound with a leatherette cover, each Rhodia Webnotebook is outfitted with an inner pocket for loose notes, a ribbon marker so you'll never lose your place, and an elastic closure that can be tucked behind the back cover when in the Rustico sleeve. The primary distinction in Webbies is the acid-free, pH-neutral paper. Whereas some brands allow ink to bleed through the page, every Rhodia notebook comes stocked with 90-gsm Clairefontaine paper—a glossy, smooth surface that lends itself well to fountain pens.
