Along the same lines as Dekay - how wide are the internal flaps? In other words can a slightly smaller journal (maybe a Habana?) fit in the cover.
I'm not sure how many top quality journals are made in composition size. Certainly most of the ones I have purchased (e.g. from Clairefontaine etc) are metric.
ETA - If anyone has suggested for good quality notebooks (i.e. fountain pens don't bleed!) , I'd love to hear about them. AND maybe Massdrop could do a drop for them. As far as I am aware the majority of Massdrop's high quality notebook offerings have been metric (or at least not composition sized!)

robert.harrisRobert, I love these ones for fountain pens. And the covers are not thick so they make for great refills for any cover you like:

robert.harrisI get my journal refills from renaissance-art.com. The paper is tree-free and fountain pen friendly. They have some wonderful hand-made leather journals and journal covers there too!
