I received my kit and tested it right away. I noticed that, even with the heat shield on after boiling water in the jet boil, the base of the stove (where it attaches to the gas canister) gets so hot that you can not unscrew it from the canister by hand. Is this normal and should I be concerned about the heat moving into the canister and rendering it unusable or dangerous?
I contacted Ruta Locura and this is the response from Josh
This is normal. The base of the stove actually gets hotter for the first minute after the stove is shut off. This is just heat from the pot supports and other components transferring into cooler parts of the stove and pot. Its not dangerous, if the canister was getting really hot during operation then you would need to worry.
Thanks, Josh
