VertI believe that is a mistake, as there is a different version of this pen with gold trim (that does not match the photos). As I said above, I believe this pen has a Rhodium plated gold nib... making it silver colored. However a Massdrop employee will have to weigh in on this to be sure: gold or silver trim?
GraydogThe problem with this unfortunate drop description is: until Massdrop clarifies, I don't know what I am ordering! The gold-trim version of the 1911 demo is readily-available, and the gold-trim NMF nib shows up at a well-known official US dealer about once every two months based on my shopping experience. Making things worse, the dealer price for a gold-trim NMF 1911 demo is actually lower than what Massdrop asks for here.
My point is, if the trim is indeed rhodium-plated as featured in the pictures, then at least I can call this rare to justify the warranty issue...
maverickwooI agree... and I ordered one based on the photos and the belief that it is the rarer Rhodium plated bespoke 1911L nib version. I see Anderson Pens has that version listed for $298, but with a 9-12 month backorder wait time. If I am wrong, then I will cancel my order and cite the inaccurate photos as misleading. The description clearly refers to the Naginata-Togi “Japanese long sword” nib, which is only found on the rarer pen.
GraydogEither way, the listing contains a mistake: the words or the pictures. I don't buy that the pictures are b&w. The question in my head right now is what is more likely to have been the mistake. I'll say the words (some Massdrop worker's mistaken copy/paste), but perhaps that is wishful thinking. The most annoying thing about it is that we were all over the barrel because of the 29 drop limit. If not for that, I assume many of us would have waited for clarification. If the pens turn out to be gold, MD better be flexible about cancelling some orders.
VertThis is silver-colored trim as pictured, and we're trying to get more info on exactly the material for the trim plating. Sorry for the lack of clarity here.
