Has anyone received word yet from Massdrop whether the description (listing gold trim) is correct or the photos (depicting silver trim) are correct? I have already reached out to Massdrop, and they responded back that they are checking into it.

GraydogThis is silver-colored trim as pictured, with chrome-plating. Sorry for the lack of clarity here.

LizAny chance you will be responding to Mr. Anderson’s post below, Liz? While the notion of a vested interest can’t be completely sidelined, I am curious about the pricing of this pen, about Massdrop’s pricing of it, as well as the reasoning behind it... Mr. Anderson is clearly no stranger to fine writing instruments, and this pen is priced at almost double of what I could pay for a 1911 Sailor demonstrator where I live, albeit one with yellow gold trim and a non-bespoke yellow gold nib.

geemoneybeWe always work to provide the best savings possible for members based on the cost we get at the time it's available. If members post that they are able to find something cheaper while a drop is live we often will work with the vendor to lower the price for the drop or remove it completely letting members know they can get it elsewhere. Since this particular model is not available elsewhere at the moment, we provided the best possible price we could based on our cost.

LizOK, thanks for the reply. I just wanted to know how you based your prices, especially in the light of the comment I referred-to. I hit the button pretty quickly as the pens were going fast, and just wanted to make sure I wasn't making an expensive mistake. It certainly is/was a popular item.

geemoneybeTotally! I hope you enjoy it when it comes - it's a beautiful pen and the nib is so interesting. You get more of a thick calligraphy line with normal use that has a bit of variation depending on the direction you move it across your paper, but you can also get a crisp fine line using it up side down. This has definitely been one of my favorites to play with this year.
