The Sawyer mini is a poor water filter. Especially compared to its big brother the Sawyer Squeeze . The mini has weak flow rates and is easily clogged. The Sawyer squeeze while bigger is much more usable. I thru hiked the AT last year and I saw some hikers with the mini's. After a few weeks on the trail I never saw anyone with them. They all switched to the Sawyer Squeeze. If you check out Youtube reviews you'll hear the same.
Also the pointed top of the smart water sport works for a back flusher, and you can swap it for the cap on the sqeeze. As far as the mini; I like these for keeping on top of plastic water bottles; fill up the bottle at a source screw the mini on and go, the squeeze pressure and sucking pressure together work well, but your right if your transferring from one bottle to another it gets tiresome
