Product Description
A simple solution for purifying large quantities of water, the Sawyer 1-gallon gravity system is ideal for individuals or groups traveling in the backcountry. Able to provide 1 gallon of potable water in as little as 7 minutes, the system uses a hollow-fiber membrane filter that’s rated to filter up to 100,000 gallons Read More

I like the bag, but this system is set up entirely wrong. The tubing sucks and should be replaced with silicon tubing and a hose clip so you can pinch it off and switch bottles. For some stupid reason this is bundled with the Mini filter and should really come with the Squeeze model for flow rate and clogging. If you are filtering from a really dirty water source, you will have to back flush at least every bag to keep it flowing. For those complaining about the handle placement, it’s put there intentionally so the off filter side is a little lower to allow sediment to settle away from the the tube opening and not clog your filter as fast. If you are filtering a cleaner water source and that’s not a concern, then throw a loop around the large cap and hang it from there for straight line flow. See pics for clear water vs silty water hang. i rerigged mine in a multifilter squid setup since this is a group filtering solution for me. The only original component pictured is the 1gal bag. Overall, I’d just get the bag and put the rest of the components together myself as I have above.

If the hose is too stiff, check on replacing it with silicone tubing. It's pretty inexpensive for a couple meters on eBay. I rigged my own gravity feed with a Sawyer mini and two bladders from boxed wine. As far as I'm concerned, wine in a box beats Jack in the Box any day! This product is intriguing but I wish they put the handle on the opposite side to allow hanging from a tree. I put a grommet in the corner of my dirty wine bladder to hang in a tree. Using 5' tubing, it filtered 2 gallons of pretty sketchy water in about 5 minutes. For me, the best part of this is the connectors. I had to experiment with different epoxies and peruse hardware stores to find what I needed to build my own connectors to the wine bladders. The nice thing about the bladders is they have their own valves, although I did put my own inline shut off.

Is the filter component the same as the Sawyer One?

Typo in description: Volume is stated as 2.7 liters. Should be 3.78 according to product markings pictured.

One complaint I've seen elsewhere about this model is that the handle isn't positioned right for hanging. Looking at the photos, I can see how that might be so. Design might have been better with the outlet on the opposite bottom corner. Just something for folks to know. Otherwise it seems a good light gravity system from a quality company.

Sounds like if I have a mini Sawyer already I could rig up my own gravity system... good to know.

The Squeeze filter is a more rapid flow filter. Looks like they have the adapters to drink direct (push close cap) and the coupler to go to a smart water bottle. What is the MassDrop shipping and handling fee? or is it built into the price? I may be blind this morning but I can't dfind it on a cursory glance

plblarkIf you hit "Join Drop" (you won't be committed until you enter payment info and such and hit order) you can see shipping price. It' looks like $3.50 to US.

ChilltownVinegar solution. I do maybe 50%, just run a pint through and let it sit for several hours/overnight, followed by thorough back flushing with clean water.

is it possible to attach it to a regular plastic bottle or a hose of a drinking bag and drink straight from the swayer?

Why would you need to squeeze a gravity filter? Gravity carries the water through the filter. This is not a squeeze filter. Two different products.
