Bought a bunch of these (3 sets, flexible and fit heads). Packaging was nice and simple. On the outside, the product looks clean and easy to use. It looks a lot like the usual intraoral cameras at dental clinics. The app for the device is pretty straightforward. However the video quality isn't as good as in the advertisements. There is an occasional lag in video transmission. It's like using an old webcam. Tried hooking it up to an iPhone 6 plus as well as an iPad mini. Will try with an iPad Pro but I doubt the quality will change much if the camera is the limiting factor.
The tip of the flexible head can get hot even at the lowest setting. So yes, it can be useful if you put it down drains as in the videos. Inside body crevices... it might get uncomfortable. (Endoscopes are used for peering inside body cavities in case you were wondering why I'd say this). I tried with my hand forming a circle about half to 1 cm around the head and I could feel the heat even at low light settings. The heat is likely due to the LEDs at the tip of the scope. Actual endoscopes have the light source outside the scope itself and light is just bounced to the tip using mirrors, fiber optics, etc hence no heat at the working end of the instrument.
As for the fit head used for examining your teeth as in the videos, it's one thing when your dentist holds it for you and points it at the right tooth. When using it on yourself and manipulating the device on your own, it can get a bit tricky.
If you're a medical professional, you know what endoscopes and intraoral cams are like. These are nowhere near the quality of that. Acceptable video quality but not great. Basically you get what you pay for.
I was curious about the focus head as I wanted a cheap tool that provides a directly vertical perspective for when I open mechanical watches or practice microsurgery but the literature on zoom and focus was inadequate so I didn't bother purchasing it.

Looking at all of the comments, this item almost sounds like an adult toy..and it surely looks like one.
I especially like the option of a "flexible head." Oh yeah baby....

I have a question regarding the ScopeAround Fit and Focus heads. The literature on the Focus head only mentions twisting the focus to adjust zoom (?). I'm confused because zoom and focus are different. I would like to know what the focal distance and depth of field is. I ask because I am planning to work on objects using microinstruments and I am trying to figure out which of the two heads is better fit for the job. I am worried that there might not be enough space between my what I am working on and the lens. Thanks.

"
  • Camera diameter: 5.5 mm (0.217 in)"
  • that is the camera diameter, My question was what is the probe diameter. I am primarily looking for something that will fit a 22 caliber bore. I have tried a few of these that list camera diameter, only to find out the probe that fits over it brings it to almost .303 caliber.

Grouse- 5.5 mm is also the probe diameter and this was measured with a caliper.
- According to the measurements above you should have no problem inserting the probe down the barrel of anything that has a 22 caliber bore
Inch caliber Metric caliber Typical bullet diameter .22 5.6 mm .223 in
Looking at the ScopeAround website, it seems like the flexible head come in two lengths. Would it be possible to have the 3 meter version of the flexible head added as an option?

I am a little confused about what you get. I went to the manufactures site and it shows the different attachments for this device. So do you get the stand, and everything that could come with the ScopeAround?

jamato8 Note: At checkout, choose the ScopeAround with the Fit head (base price), the Flexible head (+ $17), or the Focus head (+ $25) instead. You can also add additional heads: Fit (+ $56), Flexible (+ $73), or Focus (+ $81).
So the $135 price includes ONLY 1 head, the Fit head. If you want all 3 heads it'd be $135 (base unit and Fit) + $73 (Flexible) + $81 (Focus) = $289

Could you use the flexible one as a bore scope for a rifle?
