I think you forget the fact Jamey ran a Kickstarter campaign, and has thousands of backers. They now see the same game they backed for $30 less on Massdrop. It's one thing for a retailer to choose to discount but, as he rightly said, often Massdrop works with publishers directly. When seeing the drop I initially assumed Jamey was selling overstock from the Kickstarter to Massdrop, shafting his backers.
I think he did the right thing standing up for the backers, and the distributors/retailers who are vital to the running of his business. Some of the comments in this thread are plain stupid or just just downright resentful. Though Massdrop is the Mecca of the entitled so I am not surprised!

JD9229I love how your comment points out how some comments here are stupid. I feel the same way about comments that are flat out lies. This Mass Drop is for the base game and its final price is $58.24. Kickstarter backers paid $59 for the same content, including free shipping to over half of the backers. But wait, Kickstarter backers did not get the same content did they? No, for their .76 more they got a ton of stretch goals that Mass Drop buyers (or retail in general) will never see. So no Kickstarter backers are seeing anywhere near a $30 drop in there investment and for sure made out ahead. Stop the lies. Perhaps you are not lying intentionally though. Maybe your numbers are from the extra exclusive premium (inflated) price Jamey is charging for Kickstarter copies of the game that are left (supply and demand yes?). I have not looked at the numbers (but the collectors addition is at least $50 more I think, go check to be sure), but they are much higher, so you could be right in that case. But then again, those prices are nowhere near what backers paid.

Drdog98FTFY (fixes in CAPS): No, for their .76 cents more they got a THREE stretch goals that Mass Drop buyers (or retail in general) WILL HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR.
AFAIK, 3 of the 26 stretch goals were promo packs, the other 23 are included in the retail box. The promo pack are not exclusive and I think will be avail elsewhere (like on the BGG store).

joshcoady3 stretch goals adding up to 14 cards and 3 power dials of varying art. I also never said they were exclusive, but retail buyers like Mass Drop purchasers are most certainly not getting them here. That said, yes, these will show up on BGG in 2 to 8 months and will cost an additional $15 plus shipping (likely around $4) for 3 card promo packs which are $5 each.
As for the dials, I am not sure if they are exclusive to the "Special Edition" he is selling for $100 or if they will be an additional $5 or more on BGG as well. If the dials show up on BGG I would think they would be $5 since he is charging $20 for the whole promo package over the $80 he is selling the base game for directly. However, he does not give a price for the dials and says they are only available in the full promo pack. Maybe that means he has made them exclusive to direct buys, I do not know.
So to recap, for .76 cents more Kickstarter backers got for free what every other retail purchaser will pay $19 to $24 more for after shipping or depending on the dial situation will need to buy the $100 package plus shipping direct from Stonemaier, which at minimum (free shipping) is $41 more than Kickstarter backers paid for the same thing. I still see no reason a Kickstarter backer could be upset based on price point. From a retail standpoint, I love that price gouge buying direct though, but its all about supply and demand, so I do not fault that to be honest.
Drdog98It should be noted that there were no exclusives in the Kickstarter, so end consumers will be able to access the stretch goals given time to manufacture separate retail items for them and given the interest and demand to make them.

MichaelmurphymurphyAlready noted above (6 posts above in the post starting with the words 3 stretch goals). I also list prices and potential time frame of availability. I also mention that the wording on the official site is very unclear about the dials being exclusive to direct purchase or not.

Drdog98I'll just add that nowadays, you should expect retail base game prices to be *much* cheaper than KS base game prices. In effect, you need to ask yourself if the *additional* content is worth paying for in a KS. IIRC, Japanime's El Alamein KS pledge was $50 plus shipping, for the base game and SG's. It's on pre-order at CSI for $33. That means backers paid $17 plus shipping for the promos and pins. For some, that's perfectly fine, for others, it's not. This similarly happened to IELLO's Zombie 15. Right now, Cryptozoic's including two expansion sets and SG's with a base game pledge of $115 for their Walking Dead boardgame, and the base game plus SG's at a $75 pledge. If the base game is likely to go on sale (as in Massdrop or a Deal of the Day) for $50, I'm paying $65 plus shipping for two expansion sets and SG's.

Drdog98KS versions are often cheaper and include stretch goals or promotional material that isn't in retail copies; it's the nature of the beast. The amount of vitriol is ridiculous but as stated, it's somewhat expected with Massdrop's demographic.
