Like the company’s Moon Phase watch, Sea-Gull’s D0271 features an unorthodox complication in the shape of a mustache at the 6 o’clock position. On this model, it functions as an AM/PM indicator, but it works in much the same way here as on the Moon Phase watch: During daylight hours, a sun appears in the window; as the day grows on, the sun moves farther and farther out of view until it’s replaced by a moon and stars that indicate evening hours.
Note: This drop is limited to 59 units.
Heavily textured thanks to its wavy pattern, the main dial features two additional subdials. At 3 o’clock, a date indicator is adorned with Arabic numerals 1 through 31 in odd-numbered intervals of 2. At 9 o’clock is a day display, with each of seven days listed by their three-letter abbreviation. Minute markers appear in fifth-second intervals, while applied silver markers replace numerals at the hour positions. Along with an onion crown, Breguet hands lend the watch an old-school aesthetic. As for the watch’s movement, which can be seen via display caseback, the D0271 is fitted with Chinese-made 23-jewel caliber T6S.
