China made mechanical watches are good value no doubt, but don't compare them with Swiss made. Anybody interested in how China made movements stack with Swiss should look here first:

brainwaveYes, brainwave, there is a huge difference. If you care to honour a 400 year-old mechanical art, invest in hand-made watches. Let Sea-Gull be the start of a real horological passion and you will still end your journey in a handful of small towns in Switzerland that have been building these little marvels since well before George Washington soiled his first nappie. Enjoy the journey; it's a very long one.
