i live in the PNW and do a bunch of outdoor stuff like sking, mountianeering, ice climbing, ect i've tried various waterproof beanies on the market and they are all crap expect this brand and this one random Adidas hat i found (clima-something or other) these hats are typically much more expensive and this is actually the cheapest i've ever seen one of these..... if you've ever shopped for a weatherproof beanie before you'll notice the choices are slim to start with and beyond that you'll notice the cheaper ones have this plastic type layer inside of them that's not done very well, the water proof liner thing tends to shift around and just not feel very supple.... the seal skinz and the addias hat both DON'T have this problem, they are great beanies and i love having in the gear stash, as you guys know the wind and the rain just suck the heat right out of you, these hats prevent that, makes such a big difference going from a traditional cable knit beanie to one of these in adverse conditions and let me just say the wind blocking ability here is almost a bigger selling point imo than the actual waterproof portion here, massive difference in overall warmth of my whole body just having something on my head that keeps the wind off, so whether bombing down a ski run once the lights have come on or standing in belay under a melting waterfall these beanies have been great for me.

TheIzzardKingHow breathable are they? Do they get kinda clammy if you're sweating a bit?

rseymouryeah, i don't know what to say to that man, i mean yeah compared to normal beanie, it's like asking if a goretex jacket is more clamy than a t-shirt, you kinda expect that going into, i definitely wouldn't say these are meant for aerobics and if you're pumping that hard you're probably better off without a benie and just a hood pulled up over your head for max airflow.... that said, and within reasonable expectations i'd say it's pretty good and the breathes better than a plastic bag on your head, i also would say that it doesn't get clamy due to the material they use, the inside has fabric between your head and the waterproof liner and that tends to absorb the sweat and the material itself stops the clamy feeling, the beanie like any other fabric can become saturated and heavy with to much water or sweat but generally if you just wring it out it'll be fine and you can carry on your way.
honestly, like i said above the market for these things isn't very big, your choices are limited and of all of the ones out there these are the best, i'd try to understand what these are meant for and if you still think it's for you i'd snag one and if you don't like it then i guess the whole concept of a waterproof beanie probably isn't for you then....even though that's probably not the best way of phrasing it, i basically mean if this doesn't work for you none of the other ones will so this really is your best chance at getting something like this and it working out for you.
do your own research but i view these things as being used for activities where your not sweating so much, like the most i'd want to do in it is skiing but even then you are probably better off just using a normal beanie and your hood if your really pumping, but for cruising groomers and nice chill pow runs through the trees it's great for that, it really excels and is the best thing on planet earth for stuff like playing belay slave and general camping tasks and just anything in general where your not sweating super heavily.
