Daughter and I have been playing with it on Mac OS X ... so yes, the app that comes on the CD is Windows 7 and XP only.
That said, it is just a USB camera, so we got it working with Digital Viewer.
However, after a few minutes of using it, a strange black area appeared, and the lens on the inside of the black cap appears clear. I can only guess that I have an electronics problem with dead pixels.
This is the third and last product I will buy from SEEED. Their quality seems half-baked, and more work for me.

Must say this seems like utter crap. It has been described earlier in the discussion. I still cannot figure out if this even can magnify anything? The wheel on the microscope is just focus and I cannot find any settings in the software that can set magnification. The "settings" button does not have the same options as described in the user manual.
Anyone know if this really can magnify or is it just possible to zoom digitally which makes this not a microscope at all?

Was able to get it to work using Camtasia. I need a CD reader that will work with the tiny cd, before I can try the software that came with it or read the manual. Does anyone know where I can find the program online?

EddyGurgeI tried everything suggested, and the stuff Massdrop customer service suggested, and I had no luck at all. This is totally not the product as described. It's a cheap piece of garbage.

For those of you who are a bit cranky with this product as it doesn't work on OS X, I've been able to get it to work fine, just not with the provided software. The MicroCapture app for OS X doesn't see the device at all. That app is a total fail. How ever I have found that VLC see's it fine and it is working there. If I connect the Microscope to the USB port and then open VLC, I can use the File -> Open Capture Device... option and it does indeed see the device. I can then do video from the device just fine. I have not found an image capture solution yet, but this is working for my needs for now. VLC may also work for people with issues on Windows, but I can't confirm that as I don't have a windows install setup to test this. Hope this helps others.

Yep, that works as well. I just tried QuickTime. It works much the same as VLC and both will work for my needs. Unfortunately, I don't think either of these solutions work well for people like Rhizomorph above that need the measurement suite that the App was supposed to provide. In short, the Microsocope works but the associated App is a complete fail.
