In 2013, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization named Mt. Fuji a World Heritage Site, a designation bestowed on about 1,000 cities, buildings, monuments, and natural wonders around the world. As a tribute to this distinction of cultural importance, Seiko released a limited edition of its 5 series sports watch: the Mt. Fuji Special Edition. It’s the only member of the Seiko 5 family that bears the words “Mt. Fuji as a World Heritage” along the ring around the display caseback.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of model: SRP781, SRP783, or SRP785. This drop is limited to 58 units.
Though each of the Mt. Fuji’s three models differs slightly from one to the next, they all share a handful of design elements. All feature a white-pearlescent textured background, plus lumed hands lined with blue, a blue bezel, a blue rubber strap, and a brushed matte case. A day-and-date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, and all three feature a Hardlex crystal. And as a tribute to the Seiko 5 series, each watch has a seconds hand that’s been fitted with a counterbalance in the shape of a 5. Inside each model is Seiko’s 4R36 automatic movement, a 24-jewel movement vibrating at 21,600 bph that offers hand-winding and hacking capabilities.
