The glass is not Saphire .. How does this compare in terms of scratch resistance?

KwulffTL:DR - Sap will not scratch easily, Hardex won't shatter easily. Sap will shatter very easy, Hardex will scratch easy compared to Sap.
-----------------(Personal Story) Sapphire is the best there is but.... stuff like Hardex are fairly good enough resisting scratches that are found in day to day use. Sapphire is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. Stuff like hardex is fairly good enough. But the part that things like Hardex shines over Sapphire is impact resistance. One of my appox 1200 USD watch with a thick domed sapphire (thick and domed should be some resistance from impacts over regular sap) shattered once the watch's lug pins broke. It fell only a few feet but the glass shattered. I have a old beater watch with hardex and that been dropped far to many times and no shattering. But the scratches do add up... but hey replacing something that isn't sapphire won't break the bank! (My sapphire replacement cost me 60 USD in labor + 380 USD in the crystal it self) Also if you do diving synthetic crystals are far better as thickness for thickness they withstand the pressure better.
Want best of both worlds? Look for Sapphlex. Impossible to find now-a-days as it's expensive to make. Basically laminated Sapphire to prevent shattering upon impact.
------------(Personal Story Addon) If somebody asks why was the replacement 380 USD instead of something like 180 USD. Well thick and domed sapphire are not cheap when the warranty runs out.
------------(Why Sap Aint Magical) Also those who think sapphire is the magic crystal. It's not. A simple bump against a wall or a table can shatter the crystal. Especially if you get those diver's watches with those taller than the bezel sapphire (for pressure resistance) getting the edge hitting anything can shatter the crystal. Sap isn't that much off from diamond, actually its 9moh, and we know how diamonds can shatter. Higher up the MOH scale more scratch resistance it is but also decreases the impact resistance.
